Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Remakes Announced for 3DS

XY has really weird pacing because of that massive gap between the first and second gym. That entire palace part is such boring shit.

GSC don't have weird pacing so much as they have weird leveling.

The leveling is weird because the game was horribly paced in order to get Kanto in as well.

X/Y are my favorites in the series. It really felt like I was revisiting the world. The art style is just incredible, as is much of the animation work.

Or he could be a post-game super-boss.

Edit: I wonder if more Pokémon are getting Mega evos?

Seems like Kyogre and Groundon are getting megas.
Lati@s Megas where leaked a while ago.

Rayquaza and possibly Sceptile and Swampert might get one so they are not let behind.

With Blaziken getting both an Blazikenite Alpha and Blazikenite Omega 😁

Little brother wants Omega, so Alpha Sapphire for me!

So how will they handle evolution for Pokémon like Nosepass or male Kirlia? Will it be like HG/SS where most were unobtainable before the champion (besides ones like Tangrowth and Yanmega) or will they be usable? For reference, from the regional Pokédex, the following gained evolutions or pre-evolutions later on:

male Kirlia > Gallade
Nosepass > Probopass
Magneton > Magnezone
(Budew) > Roselia > Roserade
Dusclops > Dusknoir
(Chingling) > Chimecho
Rhydon > Rhyperior
female Snorunt > Froslass

Yes.

YES.

YES YES YES YES YES!!

I wish it wasn't coming out so soon. They release Pokemon games too quickly IMO.

Still hyped. Gen 3 has potential to be best gen.

Oh yeah, if they go with the XY engine, I want EVERY DAMN TRAINER BATTLE WITH AN ANIMATED CHARACTER MODEL!

And the little cut-in chat when a boss is on their last pokemon and stuff like that.

Yes, it felt like a really boring version of BW2.

That's GSC.

GSC has pretty terrible pacing in Johto, but the way XY is paced is really weird too. The gap between first and second gym is way too big and that moment later on when the game remembers they have to get Team Flare out of the way feels off too. Team Flare subplot is pretty terrible and the way the game throws the resolution of it is weird too and feels very inconsquential to the main quest. It's as if the writers of the game remembered that "yeah, we have the enemy team in the game" and tried to cram it all into one segment that doesn't really have much impact whatsoever, apart from weirdly fitting enemy-team-that-wants-to-do-something-to-the-world into the storyline.

I liked the game, but the pacing is far worse than anything before.

Edit: And yeah, I hope Steven is the champion again, water-type champion was underwhelming in Emerald.

Thus the holy war between the real Champion Steven Stone's Supporters and the Usurper Whimp Wallace began anew.

My best friend and I have been fighting about this for almost a decade.

Didn't really need this IMO. I know it's a no-brainer for nintendo to do this, but there isn't much they can do to make it better, although the trailer does talk about a new world so it will be interesting to see.

Breaking News! Mega-Luvdisc revealed!

Cause they are not. And people have nostalgia for just about every generation.

I've played a good bit of Pokemon games from the first to last gen and that gameplay is basically the same. I played X the same way I did Blue and still got away just fine. All the little stuff didn't make in the grand scheme of things. Ruby and Sapphire aren't really that old either.

This is where the series declined to me. I would rather have this game forgotten. No need for a remake anyways. Not a great game in my opinion. I guess this is nostalgia now for some youngsters out there.

I remember getting to the end of Sapphire and at Wallace's final battle I didn't even know who he was. lol

Blame it on the attention span of a child I suppose.

Wouldn't it not being a great game be a good reason to be in support of a remake?

There is so much that is better now. The attack splits, the movepools of most pokémon have been greatly expanded, the new breeding mechanics, hidden abilities, mega evolutions, faster surfing, faster saving and many many more quality of life improvements have been made.

Gen 2 games used to suck. HG/SS came along and fixed everything. Hoenn is now the worst set of games...but not for much longer.

They will be 12 in Japan when ORAS comes out.

Also, this has probably been said a few times, but:

Considering Alpha comes before Omega, shouldn't it be:
Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby

Just like the order should be
Blue and Red

I wish the distance between the first and second gym was the way the whole game was set up, with even more side stories and quests along the way. The gyms are always so bam bam champ its kind of dumb and takes away the value of earning a gym badge

I've skipped this and Black/White so I'll catch Omega/Alpha when they arrive.

Are black/white good Pokemon games? I think I need to get one of them.

They're really fun. Fanstatic music and I liked trying out the huge dex of new Pokemon. The postgame is kind of lacking so you might want to play BW2 instead.

They're good, but barebones and have very few older 'mons, and all of those are only in the post-game. Version 2's a better overall game though any ground they were breaking with story progression gets axed.
