My moneys on gianforte won't be in congress either way because he's about to be charged with a felony.

He needs to stay in the race because he'll probably win. Then they can hold another special election after the House expels him and they'll be able to put another fresh faced gopper in there in a few months. That's way better than resigning today and giving it to some plucky socialist country singer with a cowboy hat.

I go watch Netflix for a couple of hours and i miss the greatest news story of the fucking year!?!

Damn you GOP, slow down, i cant keep up with this shit.

President Donald Trump isn’t the only one in the White House who could be caught in a compromising position by James Comey’s secret memos. The president’s chief of staff is worried he could be soon in the crosshairs, as well.

Comey, the former FBI director who was fired earlier this month by Trump, took detailed notes of his interactions with the president and senior Trump administration officials in order to properly document conversations that were on the verge of improper.

Three White House officials told The Daily Beast that Chief of Staff Reince Priebus has privately expressed worry about a possible Comey memo specifically involving one of their reported chats, and how it might play in the press and to investigators.

Ooooh *rubs hands*

The dumb thing is the guy's campaign made a bold faced lie about the situation. Which can be used against him in court if it comes to that. I hope the reporter also sues in civil court, because even if the statement he made is true, it's still battery.

I like how the Montana story ties in the CBO score. That's one way to get that story some more exposure.

This is going to be what people are talking about waiting around at the polls tomorrow. Damage control doesn't work that fast.

Sheriff is just trying to get through tomorrow with no charges filed

I think that's fair, tense situation and you don't want to end up like Comey where everyone hates you for politicizing your law enforcement position right before an election. Probably mad this had to happen with what's been going on with Bozeman's 911.

Hold off, arrest around concession time tomorrow night :)

Smart move, Fox:

- Election that would be embarrassing for the GOP to lose is looking a little too close.
- Channel losing viewers for failing to report on GOP controversy.
- Report first on GOP controversy in potentially embarrassing race.
- If the win is razor thin or the GOP candidate loses it can be blamed on candidate's behavior and not the GOP on the whole.
- Look 'Fair and Balanced.'

Honestly, they have no choice but to run with it given they were in the room. The reporter who got beat is going to write it up, as will everyone else there. If FOX is the only group that doesn't cover it, well it's going to be a bad look. Especially considering they were in the room.

Plus, if they don't push back here no one will back them if it happens to them in the future.

Besides, they'd have to be utter morons not to cover it considering they were witnesses and as such have a pretty good scoop on their hands.

Whatever, I'd rather win the seat even if it means fulfilling some dumb eleven dimensional chess move.

I really don't think this was a calculated move by Fox. I think this was 3 news people reporting on what they saw.

Basically, everyone has their limit for when they can't repeat the Party Line any longer, and those three reporters just crossed it, and Fox is letting them roll with it for some reason (perhaps because the reporters would just talk to another outlet if Fox suppressed it).

Said news people don't get to pick the headline on Fox's home page, however. I don't see corporate allowing this move in a less contested race.

This is a massive, massive scoop. They were the only people in the room. This gets run no matter what state the race is in.

Also, lost in tonight's craziness:

@oliverdarcy
—@kimguilfoyle said on "The Five" she will fill in for @seanhannity. He's apparently going on vacation for 2 days. Unclear if preplanned.
