It depends on the user. PC is better for critical thinkers and developers that demand precision and flexibility while Mac is better for limited worker drones that need as little barrier between them and a constant workflow as possible. There's plenty of room in this world for machines that cater to both types of people, and at the end of the day each person simply needs the best tool for the job.

It's true though, considering how limited MacOS is for workflows. For example, while MacOS supports multiple desktops, it doesn't allow you to do basic productivity features like snapping programs to certain sections of your monitor and having them stay there through system restarts. On my 50" TV and 40" vertical monitor I have sections for Visual Studio, Firefox, Spotify, Notion, Slack, Thunderbird, WinSCP and more that open up and snap to places I've set up as soon as my PC turns on. I can also setup secondary sections if I want to make a program bigger just by dragging it with shift. I do this for multiple desktops, so I have one for work, learning, media/browsing and gaming

Thank you. I appreciate the acclaim. Too many people want to tear down one side or the other in the PC/Mac wars, but the different platforms best serve different people. We all need to learn to embrace the variety of options available to us instead of trying to claim one platform is simply "better." Such a description is wholly inadequate and does a disservice to the respective user bases.

Classic worker drones at Google.

True. So we can argue about which we feel better using as well as what's cheaper. PCs better specs, more inputs, costs less. Mac easy to use and fast. Those are the good things about each. Now the bad for each. PC can get infected as more viruses are made for it, can slow down if a driver isn't installed. Mac, costs more and has less ram, SSD space, lacks lots of freeware, costs 200 to 500 more. Overall for me it's about money value. PC intel core i7 12th gen, 16GB ram, 1TB SSD, $800. Mac mini M1, 16 GB ram, 1 TB SSD, $1,300. PCs hold more value for less money.

All you managed to say was that Apple computers cost more. This is not a useful observation, and not the primary concern for people who can afford Apple computers.

What does "can slow down if a driver isn't installed" mean, and why do you think it only applies to Windows PCs?

"PC can get infected as more viruses are made for it". This is not a smart thought. If anything the ubiquity and standardization of Apple hardware makes it easier to target malware for it.

Also what kind of poll says "which is better" as the only question? Better for what? For you personally?

Yes exactly. Finding out which one is more liked. It's that simple.

I've never really considered Mac seriously as an option. More expensive and for that you have the privilege of having to cope with much fewer options. Windows has been consistently decent since win2000.

As a power user i prefer the open PC architecture a lot more. I can squeeze a lot more performance and value from much cheaper components. And i can easily avoid/fix any bugs and inconsistencies that, supposedly, don't affect Macs. Even back when i used a computer at work, i still preferred the PC.

It's also going to depend upon how familiar one is with either OS. For general usage though I have to give it to Mac. Microsoft still can't seem to build a good experience for the average user compared to Apple. But I'd never not want to use Windows for 90% of my work tasks, and Linux for my development and DBA tasks.

For me it’s PC. What I use for gaming and my work. I’ve never owned a Mac but I have no irrational hatred of them either. Mac seem like the go to for video, music and photo editing.

The last 17 years had to us a PC for specialized software at work. Always chose a Mac for everything else personal. Stopped PC gaming back in 2005 or so because it's a pain in the ass.

both are good. if you want to play games then build a PC. if you want a basic day to day use computer and you can afford it then Mac is a great choice.

You should only poll mac users because everyone knows that if you don't use a mac then you are an uncivilized buffoon who shouldn't be allowed to voter ever. The sort of base animal who owns less than five turtleneck sweaters and dresses in clothes which are not black (the only creative colour).

I vote PC, but not for windows. Cost, repairability, compatibility, etc. Framework laptops are my idea of a good time. Just wish their screens went to 15.6

If I had to pick one OS it would be Linux since it's where I do most of my projects and it is a dream to configure compared to dealing with Windows.

I would take Windows purely for utility since it has better gaming and WSL/Hyper-v can let me work in Linux without disruption. My pipe dream is that the gaming industry one day fully decouples from direct x and I can relegate windows to a virtual machine for office.

I vote PC, but for me - Linux is the sweet spot with a begrudging use of Windows for some gaming.

I can't stand Apple, MS, or any other mega-corp.
