POLL: What will be THE BIG new feature in Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2?

Which big new feature will be part of BotW?

Tonight might be when we find out about it (TGA), so let's do this now:

I've long since its announcement thought about what BotW 2 could offer in terms of new features, but unlike past pre-reveal hype cycles I can't come up with a specific list of items, because really, it could be anything.

That's why I'd like to ask all of you: What is the one (or one of several) BIG new introduction in BotW 2?

I came up with the following, but please feel free to add new ideas yourself! 👍

- Underwater exploration (felt bad to have all these lakes and coastlines in BotW1, but be unable to dive)

- terraforming (with a possible focus on underground/cave exploration, we might get kind of a better looking, less blocky Minecraft, digging new caves, creating new river systems, etc)

- town building (Ganon is seemingly defeated, Hyrule is kinda at peace - time for people to settle the land anew. You get to freely pick locations and can upgrade houses into specialized buildings like an observatory, a smith, a casino, a farm etc)

- Two-character system a la Pikmin 3, instantly switch between Link and Zelda at any time (send one to do something else or stay together for more battle prowess)

- Sky exploration (flying islands, air battles, etc)

- Online-multiplayer (coop, quests a la MonHun, pvp, anything)

Of course, maybe there won't be anything big new and we'll only get more BotW1 with new dungeons and a new story.

What do you think? Post your ideas!

(If you think several of the things I put in the poll will come true, pick what you like most or find most significant)

Having something more exciting than life, stamina, seed and breakable weapon to find during exploration maybe?

Or good boss fights? Or more type of enemies? Or a better combat?

The possibility are endless, the first game was lacking in several areas...

Sadly, I think the gimmick for this one will be that you control both Link and Zelda (Both with different abilities). Having to switch between them frequently for situations.

I hope they come up with more unique scenarios like the DLC had so you really have to push the game mechanics to progress. Master Sword trials were gud

In terms of unique enemies, I hope they can replicate the feeling of the first 5-10 hours of BotW. Enemies felt *really* dangerous at that point, and I can't count how many times I was killed by a Lizalfos. I don't want Zelda Souls, but having to truly pay attention to your surroundings and being forced to retreat sometimes was great. And it got lost once you had like 10+ heart containers and better armor and stronger weapons.

Don't know.

I'm gonna take this opportunity though to talk about what I want though, which is mostly just cleaned up systems from 1. Better damage calculations and hit/hurtboxes would be nice. I'd really like better shrines (at the very least some visual variety from all the blue interiors) and I really, really want dungeons that don't absolutely blow.

I love Breath of the Wild, but the latter elements of the game especially dragged it down from a near 10 to a solid 9. (Even in spite of those shortcomings it might be my GOTY - close with A Hat in Time)

I think that from the trailer is pretty obvious that they might be addressing the glaring feature lacking in 1, Caverns, adding a system of tunnels and caverns to explore is a no brainer, the mechanics are there, we already explored upwards, now is time to go downwards.

I might be wrong, i really hope i'm right.
nothing like going underground in a valley and coming out in the top of a mountain.

Better dungeons maybe? Or at least more themes. BOTW only had 2 themes (shrines and guardians) and even those two looked pretty similar, both having this techno-ancient style.

I need those forest and fire temples again.

That would be awesome. Like how you use the caves to get on mountain in the 2d Zeldas. I just had an image of exploring a cave and then at the end of the trek walking out to find my self on top of a mountain that I never been on.

Dunno, caves can be boring. They look randomly generated (which is how real caves are made) with the same art style/textures everywhere. I don't like the idea of a massive underground cave system because of this.

I also don't like sewers, another boring environment in too many games.

Basically, i never liked underground environments outside the Umbrella and Aperture Science labs.

Haha, I kinda agree, Resident Evil is the only franchise where underground equals awesome. Although I liked the cavern design in Xenoblade X, looked very natural.

Underground dungeons.

They've been very open about the fact that BoTW was heavily influenced by mine craft. Digging into the world creates that same feeling and would also allow them to have dungeons that operate on traditional Zelda elements.

And the Zelda-series already has an established item for digging. 2 actually. The shovel and the, what's their english name, mole mitts. Ofc they were used in very limited ways in the past. Being able to freely dig into the ground and even sculpt the terrain, that'd be awesome.

Better inventory management and general user interface if they keep the shield/ weapon degradation system. Let's hope they start there.

Damn, damn i hope nothing from all that you mentioned.
Maybe only the water exploration.
I just want real dungeons and non destroyable weapons.
as innovation maybe some sort of multiplayer functionality like in the souls games.

Me when weapon breaking makes its return:

Unless it's either removing the durability system or adding a proper crafting and repair system, i don't care

Keep in mind OP a lot of the time Zelda games don't have "new features" so Nintendo fails that crowd that craves new features all the time, if you're expecting new features from BOTW2 you will be highly disappointed.

Why fuck with perfection? The only change I would personally ask for is the absolutely tedious weapon breaking. It's not fun in any capacity and serves nothing more than to slow down combat with a mid-game pause for a weapon switch.

I voted something else since i definitely know the hook this thime is going to have to do with link spiritual arm that enhances his abilities like the sheikah slate did.
And only that.

Probably a few new features like, you can play as zelda for some parts, maybe underwater exploration, and non breakable weapon. Oh and dungeons with cool looking boss battles.

Just playable Zelda, with Link in the background. Use Triforce of Wisdom, and expand the lore of what the hell it is suppose to be able to do.

You would still seal away Ganon at the end with the combined powers of Zelda and Link, as always. Link would just be separate like Solid Snake was in MGS2.
