I see no reason to believe it'll be a 3D fighter any more than when it was rumoured Namco was doing Smash. Also you'd think these rumours would mention that.

It's not going to be 3D.
 
Everyone complaining about this maybe being 2v2. I think if this doesn't end up 1v1 we should feel lucky, because if they really wanted this to be more casual that's what they would be doing.

I'd assume so. In a way, that probably even held back 3 a little bit, the slavish devotion to prior installments.

Appreciated by a lot of us, but I was actually discussing it without sarcasm with a friend about it the other day. Spiderman was HARD to play. Really good, but really hard. If you're trying to make a game that's welcoming and open to newcomers, making one of the most popular characters ever one of the hardest to play is idiotic.

Same goes with Ironman. He was really hard to use, but, especially now, extremely popular.

Characters like that should be easy to play.

Make a character like MODOK hard / the skilled choice.
 
I'll be really disappointed if it's back to 2v2 with assist-only characters. Having to put your team on the line to call assists is one of best parts of the 3-on-3 system. If they wanted to make it easier on new players (having to know three characters to play is nuts if you think about it) they should just give the option to pick 1 or 2 character teams like Skullgirls.

That "more casual" rumor doesn't come from anywhere as far as I know. It seems to be added in by that poster.
 
Only 12 wonder how a Capcom roster would look with that this day and age.

Would definitely need to go back to a lot of solos that could get their partner as DLC.

They may not be quite on ByKing's (Gundam Vs.) level, yet, but I think the recent Dissidia shows that they're certainly competent in this venue, as well.

Plus, short of asking ByKing (made up of former Capcom staff) back to help with this kind of thing, Team Ninja would be a solid choice.

Again, even more so if this ended up somehow being the "big Western collab" Koei Tecmo has been hinting at for almost two years.

They already have 2D fighter on mobile so they probably want to test the water for 3D fighter. 😏
 
I prefer 3v3 but 2v2 is fine with me. I still enjoy MVC1 (2v2 with assists) and it’s fun to play. Just make sure the presentation (cameos, quips, extras, voice acting, costumes, stages, etc) is up to snuff along with the gameplay and it’ll be fine in the end.

Slower? I’ll withhold judgement until this weekend if we see footage of it. Regardless, I am so fucking pumped that we’re getting a new MVC game!

Also, both MVC4 and UMVC3 port are day 1 purchases from me across every platform announced. Cannot wait for this weekend!!!!

Why would Marvel approach Capcom about an arena fighter? Why wouldn't they approach a company that has a history with arena fighters? And I know someone will say "Oh, but they want the MvC name recognition and can just get someone else to actually make it", but the IP is known for being a 2D fighter, the value outside of that is minimal.

Just makes no sense.

Yup, the idea of a refresh/reboot is interesting to me for those reasons. I want to see want brand new/freshly developed versions of the characters look like. They stuck to the old designs long enough.

Capcom's already getting reamed because of SF5. Ya'll really think they're going to make a flagship franchise with 20 years of legacy 3D all of a sudden just because? lol.

If it is indeed an arena style fighter, then I would have to assume that the leakers were all fed the wrong information deliberately. Otherwise, why wouldn't that particularly groundbreaking aspect of the game be leaked?
 
Someone get the salt, this 3D arena fighter is happening isn't it... aka Rise of the Imperfects.

I'm looking at TN's History, and I don't think I see a single 2d fighter...
Lots of modern 3D Ninja Gaiden and DoA.

I still have hope it feels like a Vs series if Combofiend is battle director, but we are literally going by "he said/she said" stuff at this point and have no idea about anything besides the fact that somethings happening

I kind of hope that if it is PS Exclusive, they do a PlayStation character. Just one to kinda give it a reason of exclusivity outside of money.

Cole was cool in SFxT, dunno who'd they use this time.

This whole thread has been nuts. A few pages ago some people were actually convinced this was gonna be a Marvel only fighter with no Capcom characters or something.

The reveal can't come soon enough.
