Man, it just occurred to me how much I want Amingo back for this game. I loved that guy in MvC2. It really baffles me that they haven't done anything with him aside from that. It's a great character design.

PSASBR has room for improvement & can get Crash in this time. MVC4 is looking to have a smaller roster & no mutants. I'll take the possible upgrade over the definite downgrade.

We know nothing about the gamplay, not sure how it's a definite downgrade. Also the gap between psbr and mvc is vast. It'd needa be quite the upgrade bruh.

Meh, if they really had to bring back one of the three original characters from MVC2, I'd prefer it to be Ruby Heart. She and Cable were the "main" characters of that game, so I think she'd work better as a rep for it. Also a lot cooler design than Amingo.

Capcom: We'd like to buy the Marvel license without paying anything.
Marvel: Sure!
Capcom: That worked?
Marvel: Why would we prevent one of our own companies from using one of our own licenses?
Capcom: Huh?
Marvel: My big brother just bought you!

The studio that developed PSABR got shut the hell down. Not sure why you think a sequel is even an outside possibility at the moment.

Also: Definite downgrade on something awesome might still be better than an possible upgrade on something that was... well...

I'm not saying PSAS would be a better overall game than MVC, just that there's more of a purpose to that sequel. What do you realistic expect MVC4 to accomplish that couldn't be done with an UMVC3 remaster?

Because of course it can't be developed by another studio. Clearly that's impossible.

I mean, it's a completely different game and Mv3 had a lot of problems which is why a patch is was so desired.

Gamplay is more important to me than a roster, not sure how not having mutants is a definitive downgrade when the game might just be better overall.

THIS.
Marvel 3 had some problems. Infinites and loops abounded, and roster movesets were divided between "has everything under the sun" to "can barely move or do anything damage wise off a combo" to even " has next to no mixup or crossup options" and"worthless as an assist or even DHC partner".

Every character has been poured over by fans and every single one was found with stuff that honestly should probably have been tweaked. And thats not even looking at the netcode and HH mode lacking local offline options.

People love the game but everyone who dedicated any time to it can feel how much better it almost was.

I dunno, Ruby Heart always felt really generic to me. Visually she's just a Pirate Lady. She's a well designed Pirate Lay, but there's nothing about her that really sticks with me like Amingo does.

Every Marvel game has infinites and loops, and you could make the argument Marvel 3 was the most balanced entry in the series - although that has more to do with the other games being ridiculous than Marvel 3 being well balanced itself.

It was a great game and a great engine with some significant flaws and detractors, but people didn't desire a patch just because of that. In 2016, you could have the best balanced fighting game ever with great systems and people would still NEED patches. Change is good for competitive games.

Going off what I've read, I expect a small roster (12-16 characters, 6 to 8 each) with assist-only characters to fill it out. Or alternatively, for a fun, random guess (well, based on them being cheap): This game is actually X-Men Avengers vs. Street Fighter.

Not denying every marvel game had that stuff. Just saying what you are...people needed a patch.
Controversial statement: I want Cammy instead of Chun Li

I'd have been happy if Chun's only OTG wasn't one that was done in the air only. It left her with no other follow up than SBK plus no options with assists and it severely limited her ability to do any damaging combos without flipping from launchers to wallbounce stuff and for a double jump character thats sad. Chun was close to good with her air dashing and pressure, but she just couldn't find a way on her own or with partners to easily get damage that couldn't be better found by switching to another character. I dropped her for Storm in vanilla.

I'd like Cammy too if I'm being honest. She's great. But I'd LOVE Chun to have been tweaked more for combo versatility. Cammy would need some care in design to survive Marvel though. Folks without zoning tools or long range normals need careful builds to thread the needle that is the MVC bullethell of assists, beams, and Swords.

It's gonna be a TCG.

Marvel Vs Capcom Hearthstone game.
No joke I would love this.
Like that Capcom vs SNK card game!

No joke I loved both versions. I actually own a physical card version of the original. I adored the second one though. The mana system was gold. Every card was a character card and every card had a colored or colorless mana cost. The kicker though was that every card could be used for mana and some cards tossed for mana yielded FAR higher mana than their costs and others had tappable abilities to generate various mana on demand and in different colors.

Game was fucking golden. I wish Capcom vs SNK card fighters 1& 2 had been ported to PC. If it was I'd run sets constantly here on GAF.

Not that controversial, though I'd rather keep Viper and ditch Chun if it came to it

Nah, not really controversial at all. C. Viper was fantastic. Marlinpie was a dream to watch with her popping rapid seismos and doin crazy long combos.
SF reps I wish I'd get to see in MVC are kind of all over the place. Any of these could take Chun's spot and I'd be fine.

  • Urien
  • Rashid
  • Seth
  • Necalli
  • Juri

They just feel suited to Marvel to me. God could you imagine F. Champ if he got Seth in Marvel? Dude would hang all over that with both hands. He loves him some long range screen control.

You had me at Heroes and Heralds. Loved that mode. Wish it had local offline.
