Marvel 4 just deflating that Injustice hype like

Maybe NRS should announce a new character for the game rather than go radio silent for 4 months.

I've been trying to push for Sigma forever. Classic X1 Sigma would be dandy. X4 with the tattered cloak? Cool. Sigma from X2 with the Wolverine claws? Dope. So many possibilities.

Then imagine him getting a Devil Trigger style level 3 that puts him in one of his final forms, like X3 Kaiser or something.

Please push Sigma. )=

I'm really hoping the 2v2 stuff isn't real. Something tells me it might be a thing

A lot of sources have been saying the same thing from what I've seen on various sites. It's not like a 2 v 2 versus game is bad, but 3 v 3 has always been one of Marvel's shinning points. I'd be alright with it since I loved TvC, it'd just take some getting used to. Would really mean the end of one touch death combos though, which I welcome.

So they are giving me Black Panther, Ant-Man, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch(maybe?), Thor, Hulk and possibly Wasp? Bucky? Falcon? Cap?

Yea...gg FOX. Thanks for the bickering with Marvel so we can get a far better roster!

Just because its 3v3 doesn't mean it will have TOD. Marvel 2 was 3v3 and it wasn't really prevalent.

Yeah, that's how I see it. I've just been so accustomed to the 3v3+variable assists for so long. I'd still play it as much as I play every VS game, but it seems like a weird choice. I'll get over it if it ends up being a thing. Really makes me wonder if the gameplay will resemble MVC1 more than 2/3.

What are these additional sources?

All I've seen is d3v's second hand account of a Malaysian animator that's credibility could not be confirmed, that also was not contacted by Polygon because McWhertor didn't mention anything about 2v2+1.

I'm actually recording a video with Vesper on the X-Men/F4 situation right now.

I'm with AnotherDayAnotherDollar on this one and we've had various exchanges about this, but I believe, judging by the articles released by Deadline and the rights situation for Ego with Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Deadpool with Teenager, the character rights of F4 are with FOX but any produced film within that universe must be co-produced with Constantin Films. I think the rights were transferred to FOX a long time ago even though no transcripts exist to confirm such a stance. Though recently Kevin Feige in an interview said both X-Men and F4 were with FOX so I dont't doubt one bit that they own them.

I just don't want assist exclusive characters like in Marvel 1.

I don't know how Marvel vs. Capcom 4 could be a step forward from 2 and 3 with 2v2 gameplay and a handful of the most important characters in the game removed. That's obviously a heavy statement when we don't know at all how the game will look or play, but if these rumors are true then it sounds like the game is both abandoning its roots and getting smaller in scale without gaining much of anything. One of the only reasons I can think that they'd do 2v2 is that the game has a smaller roster, which is inevitably going to disappoint a lot of people. And while separate assists would be easier to balance, I don't know, I always thought the enormous amount of variables was basically the whole point.

If these rumors are true it doesn't sound like we're getting the game we were waiting for :[

I wonder if Deadpool can be used. From what I understand there is a different film deal for him than the X-Men. He was originally part of a film deal with New Line cinema and Fox bought those up.

This is me. I'm fine with the idea of selecting a 3rd char and putting them in the Assist slot, because I may only want that char for its assist and no interest in actually playing them.

But MvC1-style stuff? Nah. That be just a tease.

Oh shit, I just realized, with Runaways getting a TV series, we might actually get Runaways characters in the base game or as DLC.

Nico Minoru

Molly Hayes

Karolina Dean

Arsenic & Old Lace

Chase Stein

Runaways have a decent shot because Marvel Studios absolutely loves them and I can see one of them getting one of the quirky character slots.

Don't play with my heart like this. I can't take it!

I hope so, man. Deadpool, Howard, and Blackheart are the only Marvel characters I'd really like to see show up. I only want Wolverine in, because of tradition.

That is correct. X-Men contract was done in 1993-94. Deadpool rights were in early 2000 with Artisan (pre-Lionsgate), and then New Line came on board following the success of Blade but then FOX came in and bought the rights from them.

He's seen as part of the X-Men, so he's banned.

If the Runaways get in, Nico is definitely gonna be the one that's playable. They could easily just make her a Strange clone and call it a day.

X-Men are easily replaceable with similar characters taking their place.

Like Punisher = Cable. Plus, this gives more room for more unexpected characters and variety.

How do you think they would incorporate the Staff Of One's limitation (that it can only be used to do something once) in a gameplay mechanic? Spamming moves causes her powers to backfire/fail?
Would Nico sacrifice Health for damage (referencing the blood magic aspect of her staff?)

I'll miss the X-Men, but I think it will be cool to get a new roster too.

I've compiled a little list of all the heroes that are in the MCU / arriving shortly, Iron Man, Capt. America, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Falcon, War Machine, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Star Lord, Gamora, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Drax, Nebula, Yondu, Mantis, Vision, Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Wasp, Captain Marvel, Daredevil, Elektra, Jessica Jones, Hellcat, Luke Cage, Misty Knight, Iron Fist, Colleen Wing, Punisher, Quake, Ghost Rider, Cloak, Dagger, Black Bolt, Medusa

I think its a safe assumption that any hero with a solo movie is in the roster. Plus Groot and Rocket because they're unique and Guardians of the Galaxy was popular. Black Widow and Hawkeye seem like sure bets, being OG Avengers. Scarlet Witch and Vision seem like good bets. That gives us 15 characters. I think the cap is likely around 20 characters. Here's to hoping that the four Defenders also make it in. That leaves room for one villian, Loki. Which works on a meta level for those who criticize Marvel's weak villains.

This reminds me of Smash Bros roster betting and speculation. A lot of fun! What are everyone else's thoughts? I admit my roster is a bit overoptimistic with some big characters missing.

She had a lot of support from fans last time. Here's hoping their voices are heard for this installment.

I'm pretty sure that, if they have been in a comic series other than the xmen prior to the deal, they actually have the ability to use that character.

The issue with deadpool, in particular, is that I think he has mostly been in the xmen or mutant related titles.

I don't see a MVC without Wolverine. I can see every other mutant getting the shove but someone has to just suck it up and spend the money for him.

I like a lot of other x-men but I don't feel like they are NEEDED like wolvie.
