If it's 2v2, I really hope there's no assist characters because that will just lock out potential future characters unless they come up with some kind of excuse for the same character appearing.

Like "the assist is a skrull!" which is a race they can't use.

So those characters mentioned in the polygon article are confirmed to be in the game? Iirc Groot hits things hard but I could be wrong cause I remember little about GOTG. What does ant-man even do? 😴😴😴
Yeah, Ant-Man & Groot are basically in if Polygon is on the money.

As for Ant-Man, he can shrink or grow at will.

Groot could be similar to Nemesis, large brute character with long reaching branch moves instead of tentacles. Just hopefully without Nemesis' scaling issues.

I don't want them to overhaul any movesets. Every one of them is iconic.

Whatever movesets they were given for MSH would have been considered iconic, whether good design choices or not, only because of the characters themselves and them releasing so many games so fast in succession, that they couldn't change them up drastically. Iconic does not necessarily mean the best choices for the characters now, especially with so many characters being designed from scratch when much better tech is available and designers are much more creative.

Cap and Spidey were designed to kinda be like the Ryu and Ken in MSH. They each have a projectile, a hurricane kick-like move and an uppercut as their core moves. Their movesets were safe and pretty cookie-cutter for the time. Their movests are still being defined by one game/design team's decisions from a 20+ year-old game. I think it's fair to consider them OK for the time, but not now. Cap is not too bad, but Spider-Man could be so much more interesting if they rebooted him. Does anyone really care if Spider-Man keeps his Spider-sting? I loved MSH, and I wouldn't miss it. Maximum Spider was always pretty boring for a super move too. I don't think the designers necessarily game them the perfect core moves/style on the first try, so there's no need to keep clinging to them.

Not a fan of the marvel movies but they used his powers in some interesting ways in ant man and especially civil war. Check out the airport fight in cap 3. He practically steals the show

I dont know how they're gonna translate shrinking man into a fighting game tho. Requires some imagination for sure. I can see them being lazy and using his giant man power more but nah I'm intrigued what they do with him going smaller

I really wish the DC characters werent tied to netherrealms. Always wanted to play a Capcom-esque fighting game with the batfamily

Hoping daredevil and black panther make it in. And marvel plz, wolverine the berserker gawd has to be in here

DC characters in an Capcom versus game is something I always wanted to see but I know will never happen

In an ideal world these companies would chill with the rivalry for a second and figure out a way to give us Capcoms Marvel vs. DC game. I'd mark out

Imagine the intro too with batman vs cap. Dios mio.

Why would they want games that sell less lol?

Proton Cannon needs to be in the movies god damn it

Here it is in real life:

I'm calling an intro video or montage to get the crowd hype. And then a quick set with Yipes, JWong, Combofiend with one or two characters.

Also if we get an UMvC3 port, any chance of a balance patch???

is the injustice series more successful than MvC? either way i'm not looking at it from a business perspective as i don't really care, just as a fan (preferring the dc universe over the marvel one too) i wish they got a fighting game of this caliber. MvC series was always more enjoyable to me than injustice or mortal kombat.

I don't think we have final numbers for Injustice like we do for Marvel. But an analyst said that the first Injustice sold 424k units in its first month. Marvel was released two years before it and sold 790k in its first month.

i recently learned you can actually max range convert off of it with flight, like a bizarro version of sentinel spit.

he has so many cool things but gets blueballed so hard by his movement and launcher

like, did you know you can actually combo off L air smart bombs like a ghetto magnetic blast? it looks super duper weird but it's doable
Iron Man with a good, safe DHC hyper and great movement would be about on par with Doom. Like just with that you would pick Iron Man for the beam and Doom for the Missiles/Rocks.

iron man with a good/safe DHC hyper and great movement would literally be better than magneto on point and undoubtedly be the best support char in the game just from his on-point strength and unibeam/repulsor assist

you are seriously underestimating how insane his normals are. they're straight up sentinel length except also airdash cancelable, can be directed in multiple directions and his flight is actually useful in terms of generating pressure/conversions

that he has a beam super that doubles as a strong THC gimmick, an invincible lvl 3 that can be used as a reversal that he can combo off of (the only other chars who can airdash who have this are morrigan and phoenix) and bonkers damage are just the icing on top

edit:
forgot viper for 'airdash chars with invincible reversal super that can be converted' for some reason even though i have played literally thousands of hours of matches against her and that's one of her big things
why is it all female chars anyways

edit 2:
wait fuck, also modok and dormammu

maybe scratch that bit but it's pretty good to have regardless

If UMVC3 gets ported with a balance patch,I want Iron-Man:

  • to have a faster tri-dash
  • quicker startup and less recovery on repulsor blast> repulsor spread.
  • Down +Heavy (Missile) should be controllable so I can shoot it straight instead of going downward.
  • Smartbombs: Bigger smartbombs to use it as a zoning tool and it be great if different strength of the buttons determines it distance.

I just realized I want Beetle to make the roster. And Mysterio.

Abner Jenkins? He might be under the Fox rights. I remember he fought Human torch a lot along with Spidey....

Janice Lincoln should be good though

agreed. Mysterio would be amazing. Gotta have an absurdly over-the-top voice actor though

We already had Iron Man with good air movement in Vanilla Marvel 3. He just didn't have good ground movement.

His normals are very good but very narrow and lack the cross up ability. He is still very weak from below unlike Doom which can Foot Dive from below.

I think of they just give him a proper ground dash that's fine by itself. That way at least he can position himself. He would work like a Nova type character then. I think as Marvel has evolved, characters with no way to plink around on either ground or ground got a lot weaker. Iron Man was one of the victims of this.

Here's the question I've been thinking about: how would they balance Phoenix Wright? I'd really like if they somehow made him viable but I can't imagine it happening without drastic changes.

When it comes Spidey villains, I'd like to see Green Goblin, Carnage, or Ock. Even though Ock hasn't been around since Superior, I'd still like to see how he'd look in the VS series. Unfortunately his design presented the team with technical issues, which is what lead to him being scrapped. Osborn is no longer the Green Goblin, but I always thought he'd have an interesting moveset in a VS game.

Carnage has a current ongoing, so he probably has a better chance than the both of them. I wouldn't mind.

Iron Man really just shouldn't have his old moveset. He needs a redesign. (for 4)

I thought everyone put together a purposed list of changes a while back for umvc3?

Dahbomb and Karst might have a link to that gaint project to make mahvel great again

112 pages baby!

Dormammu is 4 pages all by himself, I realized. lol

It's nostalgic looking back at this document. I should read through it and see how much of this I still agree with.

Some characters have pretty iconic movesets (Magneto) but Spidey/Cap feel like they were just plugged in without much thought.

Ironically, Magneto is much further in gameplay than his actual character would operate in a comic or movie. While Cap is much closer.

I'd personally like to see some gameplay redesigns, especially if they lose the X-Men. Throw the majority of Magneto's BS on a character that makes sense with it. I cannot imagine Marvel without Magneto. He IS Marvel to me.

There is so much potential to give Spider-Man a better moveset, I hope they just can his old one.

I doubt we'd get assist only characters. They aren't gonna be modelling characters for one move.

The five Capcom characters that I will never get: Zack & Wiki, Sissel, Akira Kazama, Shoma Sawamura, Date Masamune.
Also I really hope they go with Mega Man and not X.

Look, I am not saying this isn't a good point, but

Essentially you're saying I get to watch the Marvel community eat itself alive like the Smash community does and that sounds amazing.
Nice.

My only wish for a buff is for them to add the ACTUAL Hsien-Ko and not the travesty that we got in MvC3

Better hitboxes and frame data outside of Turnabout mode for one.
