Honestly, super solid list. Not quite enough newcomers on the Capcom side, but every single one of the choices makes sense in some form or another.
Also Gene and Asura BOTH? Come on, we can't be that lucky.

Guardians has too many reps. Might as well put Drax in at that point. If Groot and Rocket HAVE to be in I would replace Gamora and Star Lord with Lady Sif and Nova. I would also replace Thanos with Dormammu. Put Thanos in the Shadowland stage for lols.
Also am I alone in wanting Ms. Birkin over Leon?
We don't need Venom again. Venom had his turn, and he's similar enough to Spider-Man in powers. We've never had a classic Spidey villain. I don't consider Venom classic in the same way as many of his older villains.

Not sure about Lady Sif getting in in the near future, & Nova (Richie) may be saved for DLC (I say this as a huge Nova fan). Think of it this way, Star-Lord is amongst the most popular of the team (by virtue of him being the leader), & Gamora would appease female fans of the Guardians. If I had to replace one, it would have to be Gamora with Dormammu.

Venom is now bonded to a psychopath again, it wants to be good but the host doesn't.
Toxin is bonded to Eddie Brock who has become Agent Toxin, basically.

Carnage now has the Darkhold and can create minions and monsters that are completely under his control among his other powers
Mania is around, sort of a new She-Venom, but one that has powers over demons I believe

No FOX characters, too many returns not enough women; there's a couple of ways they can hitch this. DLC (and there will be DLC) could mitigate that, but it'd be nice if the starting roster delivered.

Also, too many SF representatives and in general a lot of returning characters on Capcom's side IMO. They have a ton of games that they can choose from. At the very least they could replace some of the older characters with:
Regina
Samanosuke (there was an Onimusha trademark thingy a while back)
A female Rival Schools rep
Arisen - female/male option
BASARA rep (Date?)
And maybe Nilin (if Capcom has the rights to her character)

I like this a lot. I appreciate you keeping most of the single rep characters on the Capcom side, like Viewtiful Joe, Haggar, Spencer, Ammy, etc.
If only you kept Arthur around. Ghost N' Goblins is the only Capcom franchise from UMVC3 that you kinda completely scrubbed out.
