Do you know how annoying when I see something that's ass backwards and realize it has to do with the south?

Do you realize how annoying it is to be generalized as a bunch of redneck idiots by someone named kitchenmotors?

Damn liberals, I tell you.

(NOTE: BEFORE FLAMING STARTS, LARGE AMOUNTS OF SARCASM ARE INCLUDED IN THIS POST)

soda : sounds right

I associate coke with a cola soda. Why is there uch a big difference in refernce to it anyway?

"didn't I just say A FUCKING COKE?"

And didn't we just have this thread a few weeks ago?

Me: I would like an orange soda, please.
Woman: Sure. Here ya go.

Uhh, WTF? I live in Galveston County, TX and we just call them by their damn names, not Coke as the map implies. if not, "soft drink" is used for a generic term.

Waitress/person at counter: "What do you want to drink with that?"
Me: "Coke."
Waitress/person at counter: "OK, that'll be..."

NO CONFUSION THERE.

I just call em fizzy lifting drinks.

I'm in Atlanta, and of course we call it coke here. It's where coke is from, they have a stranglehold on our conciousness or something. I just think it's sooo odd to hear people say it sounds right to call it pop. That sounds so goofy. So yeah, i think the south calls it coke cause it's stationed down here.

it's pop damnit! Who the hell wants to say 2 syllables?!

"Oh, and could I get a pop"
"What kind"
"A Coke/Dr. Pepper/Pepsi"

Easy as that. Soda sounds stupid and is more of a throwback to the 50's than pop.

I don't even understand why you guys need to say the pop/soda bit first anyway? If you're bothered about using syllables, why don't you just say what you specifically want in the first place? That's gonna save whole sentences.

Yeah, Coca-Cola is very dominant in the south. I think Atlanta and Houston are the Main and Secondary HQ for Coca-Cola, and around here, "Coke" is often used to refer to sodas. As already stated by Olimario, there's different types of "coke". Orange. Grape. Dr. Pepper. Sprite. :lol

You're wasting 2 whole syllables right there!

"Oh, and could I get a Coke[/Dr. Pepper/Pepsi]"
"All right, I'll be right back with..."

PROBLEM SOLVED.
