the swiss are ahead already you take your money to a clinic everything is clean take your hit then you go on your way. Middle school kids right now have easier access to hard drugs then alcohol.

This is very well said, the swiss model is at the least the next logical step we should take in regards to heroin.

sounds good as long as the illness judgement doesnt get turned into an excuse for proper crimes

fuck i hate that shit

edit:

australia has been 'trialing' injection rooms in kings cross, sydneys trashy drug place for like 20 years. by everything you hear it works and has cleaned up the streets in that area because they have a clean enviornment to shoot up with clean needles provided and whatever

... it works, trial got 'renewed' and seems like it will be renewed forever

australian politicians are scared they will encourage use if the make it a law so they are just 'trialling' the injection rooms in the cross

And you base that assertion on what exactly?
Every study I have ever seen and every professional I have ever talked to said that incarceration is not only an ineffective way to treat addiction, but usually (and especially when you consider the state of the correctional services in this country) counter productive.

One of my ex-girlfriends was an alcoholic and a heroin addict. She nearly killed herself in an accident caused by being drunk and high.. she still went back to it.

The only thing that got her clean was going to a jail-run rehab for 3 months. Basically being an inmate with a focus on rehab.

You can quotes studies, but look at real lives. Do you realize that rehab programs fail the majority of the time? My view-point isn't based only on my ex.. Look at the stories of addicts lives. How many have been to rehab before and used again.. 2 times.. 3 times.. 4 times.. it goes on and on.
