Possible signs of life found on k2-18b

We wouldn't send probes or craft that take thousands of years to reach their destination.

Unless you're referring to time dilation, which is a separate problem.
I was mainly thinking about the planet they are talking about. Even the closest earth-likes we know of are lightyears away.

K2-18B is 124 light years away which is a huge distance. Spectroscopy can show us clues for life, but we'd never be able to actually go there any time soon.

There are earth like planets that are a lot closer. Proxima Centauri b is on our door step at only 4.2 light years away. A little further out, we have Teegarden b at a little over 12 light years. There are others as well that are pretty close.

The best bet for discovering life in lifetimes will be searching the moons of Jupiter and Saturn. We're already doing this now with the Clipper Misson that is currently on it's way to Europa.

I think it's logical and rational to assume that we're probably not the only life form to inhabit the universe.

I personally believe the asteroid seed theory, aka panspermia to use the correct term, which is that life here originates from elsewhere. It seems the most logical to me, which means there are planets out there with life forms much like if not the same as earth.
