I need to read some good things about hospitals

Anyone here spent some time in Hospitals?

I have spent half my life in hospitals, many different ones in a few different states in the US, they really suck not matter where I am.

When I was a kid at least they had a play room full of toys and shit.
Sometimes if I had to stay in bed they rolled a TV hooked to an NES :)

In my teens it really started to suck when you had to be for the Television Service or suffer total boredom in bed for a week or however long you had to stay.

The food... SUCKS!

I like those Catholic Hospitals (Saint John, Saint Vincent, Saint Joseph)
They kinda rock because of the short skirts the Nurses wear, the full body sponge baths also rocks :D

Why am I posting this?
Well I am trying to distract myself from the pain I woke up with this morning.
I know I have to go to the ER soon but I have been trying to delay it.
I have not been seriously sick for about a year but it seems to be back today.

Chest Pain... It feels like my whole rib-cage is in a vise being crushed, I can't beathe easily. My pain threshold (pain tolerance level) is very high so I can still do a lot in the beginning. Took some Morphine Pills so my typing has gone to shit all morning.
MS Contin / Percocets are suppose to knock a new users out but I've been taking this kind of strong stuff since I was a kid so at 31 it does not affect me as bad.

The pain can stop in a few hours or get uncontrollably worst.

I had sex with my Girl in the hospital once... that was kinda cool :D

I need more distractions, it is part of what we call active meditation

Post some funnies, I really don't feel like going this time even if it kills me

Good thing about Hospitals: As a general rule of thumb, more people are alive or healthy due to services and facilities provided by hospitals than would be without them.

That said, having to go to hospital sucks all around... due in large to the fact that you'd be sick (which sucks) when you do so.

morphine.

heh, after i had my shoulder rebuilt the first time (never let your kids play football... soccer is NOT for babies, its for SMART people :) ) i was stuck in this same prone, unmoving position for like a day and a half. it was brutal. only thing that i could do was watch TV, and the only thing that made it bearable was the morphine that would put me back to sleep.

Morphine.

At the hospital with get it as a drip (PCA pump)
You press a button an you get a dose.

I never press my button, I hate drugs.
Pain sucks it takes control of your body, but painkillers take your mind.
It is always best to sleep, Morphine just make me talk to them much.

I still feel like shit but I'm still not going in. I think it can pass soon.

Morphine is a hell of a drug.

They save my mom's life from dying when her skin was hardening. Thank god for stem cells and the top research dermatologist in Texas that just happened to see her at the hospital.

Here's a bad thing: People from the hospital across the street from my house always park on my block. 20 years ago they made my block a no parking zone, people from teh hospital still park there, and rerely ever get tickets. When someone in my house parks in front of said house, they get tickets, but the cops rarely enforce the law. It gets me so mad, that I often call the cops on the hospital people, to ralely any avail.

I have been in hospitals quite a bit due to my severe asthma (almost died many times), and once I was in the hospital for a week and missed my middle school trip. I really dig that they super nintendo's way back when, and of course there are always the hot nurses. And also I was put on Codeine one time, is that any different than Morphine?

Codeine and Morphine are both obtained from opium. Morphine is much stronger

Codeine is mostly used with Tylenol for pain, I have not had Codeine since I was 12.
Just not strong enough.

You can't appreciate Codeine until you accidently watch Pokemon for an hour and don't move while on it. My mom looked at me for a minute, and said I probably shouldn't take it anymore.

Moral of this story, Codeine fucking rules.

ferrets ferrets ferrets ferrets FERRETS!!!
Getting back to the topic at hand I haven't had an extended stay at the hospital since childhood, when I had more severe asthma and allergy problems. Whenever I visit one now, it's always crowded and dingy and sad. Forget that scene.

hrmm, i'm in the hospital as i type this, and like you, smiles and cries, i've spent nearly half my life in various hospitals across the country.

right now, i'm on day four of a yet undetermined 14 or 21 day routine of iv therapy.

bad things? a whole hell of a lot. too many to list, actually. one in particular, though, that really chaps my ass everytime i'm admitted here is that why in the world does the 5th floor, aka the maternity ward, dressed up like a 5 star hotel suite, while the rooms for long-term hospital patients look like something out of iraq? granted, the ladies are giving birth, and it's a lot of pain(although kidney stones are more painful), they're only in for about three days. just doesn't square with me...

however, for the first time ever, this hospital has added...

*drumroll*

...CABLE!

which means i'll be able to watch the NBA playoffs for the first time ever here. i'm actually pretty stoked since instead of being at home and having to care for myself, i'll be here and waited on hand and foot. :lol

the nurses here are butt-ugly. some of the doctors are pretty cute. everyone konws me here so they let me do my own thing most of the time unless a serious problem has developed. like a poster above, i, too, have had sex in here. it was so sterile that i didn't even need to use a condom!

as i type this, since i'm at a military hospital, and it's 5pm, the star spangnled banner is now blaring across the base.

the worst thing, though? you got it....the nasty ass food.

Morphine bad :p I almost died on it because I stopped breathing and didn't notice. I'm also allergic to codeine. Good thing about hospitals - The abandoned ones are scary as hell.

Incognito you understand my pain...

Sorry to hear you are in... If I wasn't so perversely unyielding to my illness I would go in too and watch some NBA action (I have no TV at home kinda miss TV)

Good luck Incognito.

Manabanana very true Morphine bad, Like I sad before I never press my button to get the morphine drip to run. One time this kind nurse who hated to see me in pain would come around and hit my button while I slept she almost killed me. I could not breathe.
That was one of many times that I almost died in a hospital due to mistakes my heart stopped beating twice.
