Ace Combat 8 trailer on TGA was really cool, for me personally a favorite, very dramatic, and cinematic, especially the Japanese version - like some high quality military anime.

I think I watched it 10 times, and I am actually considering just getting into the whole series from the beginning; read some comments, and someone mentioned that it is the closest thing to Metal Gear series storywise, only with fighter jets - military anime drama.



This reminded me of how hype, and exciting a trailer can be when done right.

I personally consider the golden age of VG trailers to be between 2006-2011. The dominant marketing tactic of that time dumping the marketing budget on the biggest, baddest trailers. After the first Nintendo Direct disrupted the meta in 2011, marketing budgets for trailers got more tame.

My favorites:

1. Final Fantasy XIII ~ 2007 Jump Fiesta Trailer (The 2007 showing was behind closed doors. First publicly shown at E3 2008.)

2. Halo 3 ~ Finish the Fight Trailer (2006)

3. Halo 3: ODST ~ The Life Trailer (2009)

4. Final Fantasy Versus XIII ~ 1st Production Department Premier Trailer (2011) This one didn't age very well but I still love it.

Theres alot so ill just list rather.

Halo 3 reveal, modern warfare all ghillied up, motorstorm (even though it was fake), uncharted 2 train, uncharted 4 car chase, the last of us 2 (initial reveal), splinter cell conviction trailer (sucker for Johnny cash), wildlands trailer, breath of the wild original first full reveal (that epic trailer) , gow 2018 second trailer

I'm sure if I dig around my memory I can come up with many more but two which immediately spring to mind are:

1. Gears of War/Mad World teaser trailer. I knew not-a-damn-thing about Gears of War before seeing this and this teaser alone sold me on the game.



2. Halo 3 Believe/Diorama ad. I was already all in on Halo 3 as it was, but this just hyped me up so much more.



Microsoft really knew how to market and advertise these games 18-20 years ago.

I think literally nothing from the trailer (besides the music) is in the game lol. Some of it is in the CG movie.
