[Deified Data]

A visual representation of GAF's history. Inspired by RevDM's thread. Why not go through your pic host and post your old avatars in order?

My first avatar I had as a junior. It's Chiaki from Nocturne. Memorable, but poor quality.

My last junior avatar, on the cusp of Skyrim madness. An Argonian, one of the first screens released for the game. Not very pretty or memorable. Probably my worst avatar.

Probably my most recognized avatar. I liked it, but decided to switch after I saw another poster with a similar avatar. Love Nier.

Skyrim variant of the above.

My big mug for real pic January.

I rocked Mr. House from New Vegas for a couple days before it bored even me. Not very attractive or memorable.

I don't remember much of any of them tbh... Just these that were easy to find because they were so recent. Way too many changes over the years.

I used this one for years. I have a great Christmas version floating around somewhere temp made for me quite some time ago.

Used this one for a few weeks when I noticed a lot of people complaining about animated avatars. A number of people told me they missed the old bear, though, so I switched it back and kept it until the ban fell on the lot.

Corporate Skull...this is the Christmas version of course, I couldn't find the original. The creator of Bear had moved on to new projects by the time animated avs were banned, so I decided to move on as well. I started using a character from one of his new projects, Corporate Skull, but I found they made my posts seem excessively dour. It's possible it actually affected my posting style; avatars are weird like that aren't they ;p

Then of course there were all the real pic avs but I won't bother posting them since they were mostly only around for a month or two.

...and now I'm back on a drawing of Bear. Nothing else feels "right."

The first three are of Meredy from Tales of Eternia (Destiny 2 in America).

The last one is the Great Deku Tree from that epic Zelda fan art celebrating its 25th anniversary.

By switching to a Nintendo avatar, I have exposed myself to the risk of people dismissing my opinions about everything Sony or Microsoft. (Seriously, people do that a whole lot... I might change it again because of that.)

So what exactly is the reason that GAF wants to host all our avatars themselves, and stop using animated gifs?

Edit: In December I did have someone add a santa hat onto it, but it was still the same avatar so I don't count that as an actual change.

Double edit: Oh yeah, and someone added a helmet on him during the GT5 launch.

I have a serious case of avatar schizophrenia. Just can't find myself satisfied with anything and stick with it, especially the ones I've made myself.

Luckily I've kept it under control for the last few months.

Ms. Wilde was adored by many, but eventually the urge to change was too great.
