Turns out I never knew friend codes were a thing on Steam.

Also turns out I have a special "platinum premium" Steam account which, among other great perks, gives me a short friend code for ease of socializing. My friend code is "911" but you have to type this into your cellphone and dial it. It will then connect you to Valve Premium where you need to give my safe word to verify the friend request. Tell them "I'd like to report a murder" and give your address for the final step of verification.
