Powerhouse - Black and White 2: The Good, The Bad, and The Divine

The Black and White series was originally hyped by the always passionate Peter Molyneux. Back in 2001, the first Black and White was being hyped up to be the greatest game of all time. Since then, a sequel was released in 2005 called Black and White 2, which was even more forgotten. Was this a worthy sequel to step the genre forward, or did the series once again fall short of expectations?

Great game. As mentioned in the video it wasn't perfect. The battle system wasn't as promised and was weak in the final product, but the ideas were great and I loved beating the shit into my creature and turning into an evil bastard.

Seriously, Lionhead and previously Bullfrog were so innovative. Such a shame what happened to them once Microsoft got their hands on them.

Bulllfrog has a bunch of classics. Populous, Syndicate, Magic Carpet, theme park, dungeon keeper. Miss their creativity.

I really disliked black and white though.

They definitely deserved a 3rd title, which could have fixed all the issues with the first two. Could have been a potential hit. I always enjoyed Peter Molyneux‘a stuff. While he was ridiculed for his exaggerations, I admired his ambition. Same goes for Dyak.

I played Black and White when it released, but all I remember about the sequel is that it sounded like the development was more of a compromised mess than the even the typical Molyneux title, and that there was little hype for it. Reminds me of Bioshock Infinite in that they had to bring in a "genre expert" to make it play like a normal game and ship.
