Game list 'n stuff
Major Japanese developers have announced significant backing for
Nintendo DS, the innovative portable video game system from Nintendo
that will revolutionize the video game industry. Some 32 companies,
including Sega, Capcom, Konami, Square Enix and Namco, have a total of
64 games in development for Nintendo DS.

The breadth and depth of this support demonstrates the enthusiasm that
developers have for Nintendo DS, a hand-held video game system that
offers new ways to play with features like dual screens, a touch
screen, wireless capabilities and voice-recognition abilities. These
features give developers new tools to create rich, evolved, social
game experiences never before possible.

Software companies worldwide have more than 120 Nintendo DS games in
development. Nintendo will announce a lineup of games from Western
developers shortly. In the coming months, Nintendo also will announce
the launch date, price and complete launch lineup of games for
Nintendo DS.

The following Japanese developers have announced games in development
for Nintendo DS. Note that many games have working titles, and that
the information is subject to change.

Raise your hand if you read "64 Games" in more than one way. :D

A Urusei Yatsura game? Wow, there's an old chestnut.
Looks like the DS is on its way (in Japan). When's the announcement for North American software again? August 12?

This line-up has huge potential. Can't wait to see what they do with Winning Eleven, although personally I'd prefer an ISS 98 type experience, but I'm sure it'll be excellent none the less. :)

The list edited to contain just the ones I have immediate interest in:

ATLUS CO., LTD.
---------------
THE GAME OF LIFE DS
Snowboard Kids
CHORO-Q DS

CAPCOM CO., LTD.
----------------
Viewtiful Joe series

GAME ARTS CO., LTD.
-------------------
New RPG

KOEI Co., Ltd.

Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo, Inc.
-----------------------------------------
Castlevania (working title)
WORLD SOCCER Winning Eleven series (working title)

KONAMI CORPORATION
------------------
GANBARE GOEMON (working title)
Vandal Hearts (working title)

Marvelous Interactive Inc.
--------------------------
HARVEST MOON for DS

SEGA CORPORATION

SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD.

Square and Konami's lineups suck.
I'll forgive you on the Square part because I'm fairly confident you don't know of Egg Monster Heroes, and that's okay. Most wouldn't.
But Slime Mori Mori...WOO!

I love Goemon ! If it's going to be a 2D game, I hope it follows the Goemon's Great Advanture's 2.5D engine !

Seems like something for everyone, and this is just the Japanese side of things (and the first wave at that!)

I wasn't really thinking of buying a DS at launch but the last few days have changed my mind. I really hope it launches for $149.99.

Rakugaki means graffiti, right? I remember that there was a konami fighting game for the 64 called Rakugaki Kids with hand drawn looking characters. It would be cool if Konami brought back the franchise and added the ability to draw your own character with the touchscreen. Then maybe you could wirelessly trade your character creations with other NDS users. Some dev house will probably think of that.
