Pragmata |OT| Tactical Hacking Action

Yea, its still fun, its not like i'm going no-hit/kill everything with no hassle. I do constantly get hit, but I just resource manage and go back to refill my hp canisters and reupgrade back in, so that counts on 'effort' too. finally starting to unlock some mods/stuff to make some pattern of a build, so looking forward to playing around with that.
I focused on heat buildup. Worked super well.

I think I'm gonna stop trying to perfect each training. The last 4 are fucking brutal and I'm spending more time with them today than I have with the story.
Yeah I did all but last 2. All you need is the ones with the upgrade part as a reward, fuck the rest.

Uninstalled it today after processing through the low-gravity part. It's basically a hallway simulator with 'yellow paint' at every corner you turn. It's the one of most streamlined experiences I've ever played and I mean that as a total insult.

When a game is this streamlined, it stops feeling like an adventure and starts feeling like you're just a passenger imo

The final area is VERY annoying with all the environmental hazards messing up the already messy combat. This area alone guarantees Lunatic Mode is out of the question for me. Some hitboxes are very dubious, too. This is such a classic Capcom issue - a lot of their games struggle with balance in the final sections, when the devs suddenly want to throw in so many things at once and it doesn't feel challenging, just very messy. In comparison, the later red zones are a joke.

I struggle a lot with the combat training missions. They're more puzzles than combat, the trick to success is clearly to use your resources in the ideal sequence. They're giving me a lot of trouble.

RE: Unknown Signal.

Kind of a disappointing epilogue to the game. It couldn't have hurt them to add a 10 second rendered scene to show Hugh showing some signs of life at the ending instead of that 3 second audio bite only.

I don't think I'm going to try and do the Lunatic difficulty, it sucks that they didn't inherit the RE formula and let you carry over NG+ equipment into harder difficulties. It makes the extra challenge a bit more fair for those who want it, for those who don't, they can always start a fresh save on Lunatic.

Anyway, I really enjoyed the game. A solid 8.5/10 for me. Some quirks and QoL issues aside, this was a fantastic new IP.

For folks who enjoy this, I will very very highly recommend checking out Binary Domain as well.

All in All, the base game and epilogue took me around 17~ hours. Pretty good for a single player game.
The good old days of yelling, "Big Bo!" into my mic like a crazy person trying to get the voice commands to work.

Yeah all that grind for 3 seconds of one liner on a black background is insulting, glad I watched it on YouTube. Overall I enjoyed the game although some battles in the last area were messy junk. I would say it's absolutely not worth picking it up at full price but at 50% off it's not a bad purchase.

The game reminds me of Stellar Blade for some reason, obviously not the same type of game or anything.
But I'm getting the same vibe from it

I finished it off last night, what an amazing experience. The combination of gameplay, story and characters was almost perfect. I didn't play the demo, so I wasn't sure how much I'd like hacking when I started but it's adds a really cool element to what would otherwise be a standard shooter. I also like how they are constantly adding new weapons, enemies, features as you play along so it never feels like a slog or wears out it's welcome. Diana was a hit with me almost instantly, but Hugh is an excellent every man, father figure, character and their relationship is one of the best I've ever seen in a video game. I actually feel bad for people who just ran through it as fast as possible and didn't take the time to experience the relationship and humanity aspect of what the game was going for. I don't generally get emotional in video games, but I was torn up multiple times throughout my playthrough and I was shocked at how attached and invested I was in these characters.

Honestly, I have a hard time finding fault with anything in this game, Capcom knocked it out of the park. Apparently this is a bunch of their younger developers from what I understand? I can't wait to see what they do next! Either way, 5 hours in I was feeling like this could be GotY material and 25 hours later, after doing absolutely everything, it's my GotY without question.

I think the level designs are really nice. Capcom really showing their pedigree. It hits the right sweetspot between acting looking for the chest and goodies, and feeling like overstaying in the area and a chore.
and even if they're repeating the 'unlocking doors by activating x switches' the setpieces are unique enough that you can just look past that.

versus ubisoft where its clearing the same enemy camp outpost #10 that looks and acts the same way each time

Well Diana reminds me of Mother Sphere of Stellar blade.

By the way, I hope they plan an expansion or DLC.

And finished.

A by-the-book Capcom game, if there ever was one. Down to the bombastic final playing phase and the predictable, but still emotional, ending. Very well told, and the music is excellent throughout.

I didn't care too much for the main villain, that gave me strong Resident Evil Zero vibes, but at least the final battle wasn't too cheesy, even if a certain attack from the boss was pure BS. I would have been very pissed if that killed me when I was doing quite well. I was on my last sliver of health when I delivered the final blow.

The game definitely has some rough sides, but overall, it's a gamey game and I enjoyed it a lot. It's very much on the easy side - they knew not everyone would be able to master the intricacies of the battle system. I definitely didn't, so I suck at the combat training missions and I don't see myself going much beyond the second boss in Lunatic mode, if I could even get there. But I'll probably give it a try just because.

Overall, it could be described as a non-horror take on the RE remakes formula, with some light platforming and a bit of tactics. An easy 8/10.

BTW, does anyone know a surefire fix for sticky shoulder triggers on an Xbox controller? I couldn't do shit in that one training mission with the charging beam, because my right R2 trigger would take a second to unstick itself and release fire. This shit is really annoying on these controllers.

I beat the 3rd boss on Lunatic difficulty, I just LOVE this game's combat and on that difficulty you have to efficiently use all your tools.

Red zones particular is very tough on Lunatic difficulty.

I'm now 4 hours in and I think this is my favorite game so far this year.

The combat is so much fun and there's a constant flow of upgrades and abilities, guns, or mods.

Game flow is really great - always something to upgrade, something new, etc.. enjoyable from start to finish for me.

Man, the combat is sooooo "crunchy", the animations are great, the finishers are fookin' amazing to perform, the music is amazeballs and both the graphics and art-direction are really good (shame about the usual Capcom static world thing where nothing is breakable - It has to be an engine thing at this point).

The ONLY cons for me so far are the...hit or miss voice acting (which for some reason is typical of Capcom and Japanese games in general) and...the rumble/Haptics could have been soooo much better.

I'm 5 hours in and I do agree that it's one of this year's finest - surely better than RE Requiem IMO.

Solid 8.5/10 so far

2 full runs, everything the game has to offer done other than the Lunatic difficulty. I think I'm done with my time with the game for now barring any big additions via DLC in the near future.

I really enjoyed this, Capcom rarely misses.

I'm also almost done with my 2nd playthrough on Lunatic and only trophy left to get platinum.

I fucking love this game!

The last 7-8 training missions scare me. (Haven't unlocked yet) Don't think I'm ready. >_<

Managed to gold medal previous ones after a few tries but now I know I'm gonna hit the real ones.

I ended up getting perfect on about half of them pretty quickly but at about the halfway point it became much harder to get perfect on the first or second try. So I started just doing it as I needed or could to get all the rewards and now I'm down to about a handful but I haven't finished all three goals. A few of them can be pretty challenging but since they are puzzle like in nature I think I'm just not quite grasping what they want me to do in those particular ones. Or how they want me to do it rather.

End game stuff:
The final VR training missions are much more difficult than the 10 sim pods IMO.

And with that I'm officially done with Pragmata.

What a fucking amazing game! Both this game and MHStories 3 are personal GOTY.

Finished the demo last night. Final boss of that had clear "tutorial boss" vibes to me.

How well does the game carry on with the combat? Does it manage to create interesting new situations that aren't annoying?

You have lot of tools to deal with any situation and have the mobility to do so.

It's a nice progression. It introduces more enemies with more maneuvers and further things to consider while expanding your arsenal and options to respond. All the while you have great incentive to continually upgrade both your arsenal and your main stats. It's a good rhythm that continued to engage me to the end.

In Unknown Signal ending hints at Hugh surviving but I still don't know how they gonna make sequel out of it.
It's not like there isn't more lunafilament and dead filament, some corporate comes to reap rewards, old company carries on in even more secret, shooting and hacking ensues.

Good point also I imagine those company gonna go after Diana to burry the evidence of what happened in over there, I'm guessing Hugh somehow comeback to earth to try to protect Diana from them.

Yep,
they could be after Diana, sending Robotics as theres no proof they didn't off-moon the tech now or later, or they could have had parallel research on the moon elsewhere in another base to produce similar results, but it also wasn't destroyed so a lot of material there to reverse engineer for new bots etc, bht could take place on Earth. Or on earth for a while then move to moon for final confrontation or second half at a Delphi base or whatever - or even an orbital base of sorts.
I think we could easily engineer a sequel basically.

Nice! might buy it for this weekend then!

Not finished yet but so far probably my goty. Rare for a game to feel fresh and I like its style. Not perfect, but considering it takes risk, I think it is the best so far for me. Very similar to CD in that it takes risk and ended up not perfect but great, CD a tie maybe. RE9 and prag= Capgod. I want Capgod to make all the genres. If they really fix DD2 they may replace Ninty as my goat.

Started a second playthrough on lunatic difficulty and it is mostly fun but desperately needs some kind of retry option on boss deaths. Being sent all the way back to the cradle on a death is just painfully slow and kills the flow of the game since you have to re-equip your loadout and sit through 2 load screens for every attempt. This wasn´t really an issue on the standard difficulty since the game is kind of a breeze but on lunatic it feels like overkill.

I don´t have an issue with the level of challenge, just the tedium. I´m fine with being one-shotted by a boss but having a 2 minute runback to the boss room is too much and a little QoL change would go a long way. By way of comparison, as it currently stands it would be like if every time you died in Bloodborne the game sent you all the way back to the hunter´s dream and you had to manually refill your blood flasks from storage.

Great game tho.
