Pre-E3 GAF Roundup Super Thread

I'm up for it if it fits my schedule, which unfortunately is pretty much double booked... :lol

Monday I'm at the Microsoft thing (the invite got me hypnotised), never got the Sony invite so I guess I'm free whatever night that is if I can't weasel my way in.

Tuesday there's some kind of Swedish gathering (spelplan, but since it's sponsored by a competitor I don't think they want me there anyway and it will probably be pretty lame) and Nokia is also on that evening. But that's a pretty good night for me to meet people from GAF.
 
I say stay with the Monday night time. I've already got stuff lined up for Tuesday and Wednesday...

Hold onto that Nintendo sponsorship above all, that's too funny.

Yeah, we should do a lunchtime meet again on Wednesday, near the media hospitaliy room on the second floor. Same place as last year.

Sadly I will be at the MS press thingy so Monday doesn't work for me either. I do want to put faces to nicks so some other meet-up would be great...

If no other day works, can't you just make it later? I mean, start it at 10 or 11...and it can go until 2 or 3...then we can all be hungover for the Nintendo Press Conf...which would be hella funny since they're sponsoring.

If that mexican place doesn't stay open that long, maybe we could find somewhere else?

Just suggestions since it looks like many people can't make it currently.

This is a great idea. I personally don't care if I'm ruined for the Nintendo conference. They have it so early every year, it's something of a tradition. Fuck it. Let's do Monday night then. A small anecdote: I attended the Nintendo conference in 2003 after swimming in the pool with Miyamoto-san in the morning. I asked him if he was looking forward to it. He rolled his eyes in a knowing way. True story! Good times. :)

Anyone not getting there in time, I say, GET THERE IN TIME. A Nintendo-sponsored GAF bash in honour of Drinky Shame. I might send passes in I can be bothered. And as ever, we can do an afterthought meet to.

The joint is open until whenever Cali places have to close. (2AM I believe)

I'm trying to squeeze one out of my PR person, but he's being tough about it and I want to take my pseudo-boss out and impress. ;)

Although having that come right after "who's that chick with the fat ..." is slighting disconcerting.


I propose that we have the drinks on Monday for all those who can get there, then (in the fine Nintendo tradition) have GAF Meetup SP Wednesday or Friday.


(we had a few other folks show up last year, but they didn't stay for the picture.)

(You know, if I'm flying down after all, I might even be able to get there in time for a late, LATE Monday night thing. I was planning either driving down Monday night or flying down Tuesday morning... but I could always bump up my plans. Maybe.)
 
The Final Fantasy/Black Mages - More Friends concert is Monday night at 8 and I know a good deal of people on the forums are going. I'll try to stop by after the show if anything, although organizing a meetup on or around the showfloor for a photo op would be class as well.
 
It's too bad I can't make the Monday drinking, but I'll be there for the Wed. meetup. I may even wear pants.

Also - I would suggest this be better on one of the non-E3 days. I have no idea when everything is, I'll just find out where they are and fucking gatecrash.

I'd be curious to check out this Monday night meetup but I've already made plans for a 'screening of a certain movie' that night at 9.

Yeah, I'll be busy at the concert and probably afterwards churning out a write-up. Don't know if I'll be able to make the GAF meet-up if it's only on Monday, then.

Plus I'm also scrabbling for a media badge now that our news producer decided not to send our stuff in... >:|
 
I'm tellin you, if you need a cheap place to stay or your alone and need a place to stay, stay in a hostel.

I'm there for 5 nights and its only $18 a night.
I'm going with a bunch of people, but its $18 a bed no matter how big your party is.
Plus, its a great way to meet new people. C-h-e-a-p.

none of my contacts came through this year, and im officially passless at the moment.

anyone care to get me in, im a photographer if anyone needs one. i can also write if needed.

seriously though, i've gone for the last 5 years, i'll be damned if anything prevents me from getting into this one.

My life is starting to resemble a bad comedy.

A second e3 pass just fell through... and I now have a room already set up in L.A.

If anyone has a spare e3 pass handy, I'd love to get it. I actually need two, but I can survive on one... I'm resourceful.

I will be there arriving Tuesday night. A Wednesday lunch meetup sounds swell to me. I finally get to meet sporks :wub :drool

I am going as a punkass exhibits only dude, I would love it if some knight in shining armor got me a media pass. :D I can write a 2000 word preview for Madden 06.
