Pre-glorified violence | The late-70s and 80s Hip-Hop thread

I love the beat to EPMD's "Please Listen to My Demo". Or more specifically I should say I love the beat to Faze-o's "Riding High" since it is left intact for the most part haha.

my musical consciousness only started in the late 80ies early 90ies so my first impression of hip hop was very mellow, straight outta the daisy age

Seems like a good place to ask this:
Back in the day I had a free tape that I think came with a BMX magazine with various different songs including a hip hop track that I can't remember the name of, the artist, or the lyrics, apart from a couple of lines that I think were "I fought the knives and i fought the guns, I felt like one of the militia squad"
The theme of the song was about a guy trying to do his best and stay away from gangs but comes home from work to a home invasion type scenario.

Come to my aid, music gaf!

Sounds interesting, I'll keep my ears open and report back if I find. What year did you hear that tape
