So it's an anthology film? What?! Hype deflated.

"a Viking raider, a ninja in feudal Japan, and a WWII fighter — not only fighting for personal reasons, but for survival against the ultimate predator of every species in the universe"

They should've just done a full film on the WWII fighter.

Supposedly a live action film is coming out this year called Predator Badlands.
Apparently it was shown at cinemacon.

Same director as Prey.

Thank goodness. I thought this was he's Badlands project lol. So he's working on two Predator projects concurrently? Good shit!!!

I like the idea, ill probably check it out. Predator is one of those franchises that always holds a special place in my heart no matter how slop the content gets.

I don't like that choppy ass animation style though. Not sure why they do that its honestly its hard to watch. The LOTR animated flick was like that too.

So a race of super advanced combat space aliens pick a backwoods planet (earth) to pick on a bunch of humans that are mostly fighting back with sticks and knives. For presumably 60+ minutes.

In World of Warcraft terms, this is spawn camping in the Barrens as a level 60 Rogue.

I'm sure a girlboss will win in the end though.

This is releasing tomorrow on Hulu.

I'm very excited, the last batch of previews have been pretty positive.

They showed a clip from Killer of Killers at the State of Unreal presentation a few days ago. IMO the animation was unwatchable choppy. And then there was another horrible girlboss character who's of course a ten times better fighter than every man on the planet. I thought it looked horrible.

I read through the comments then watched the trailer. I honestly think some people just like to hate on things it looks fine for a straight to streaming animated feature. I don't have Hulu or I would watch it

It looks like that PlayStation anthology animated series that other than like 2 or so was very weak or embarrassing

Well, that was interesting. The low frame rate was terribly distracting but I got over it eventually.

DAMN, this thing is violent. Super super violent. The viking one was the worst, girl vikings wading through giant men with ease and an old(ish) lady and her wonder shields able to slice through anything. The samurai one was good, fun choreography for the fights, especially the initial ninja attack. The plane one was the most original and creative, I thought, and Michael Biehn FINALLY enters the hallowed pantheon of "killed by Predator, Terminator, and Alien".

The ending is a bit silly. Slight spoilers so presumably Dutch, Harrigan, and whoever survived Predators and The Predator are in there as well, along side the Prey chick?

Just finished watching, that was fucking awesome.

Loved that all the Pred's were so unique in appearance and equipment.

My favorite was the feudal Japan segment. Real good stuff.

Also, does a lot more for setting up the greater Predator universe than pretty much any movie beforehand. Hopefully they do continue these animated anthologies, they certainly set up some real interesting sequel hooks.

Also, holy shit but apparently this movie was made using Unreal Engine 5.

it be nice if they rebooted the Aliens vs. Predator line of movies and start over, and have it be based on the arcade game instead.

Wow, that was terrific. I am not at all a fan of these stop-motion-like animation styles, but that feeling faded pretty quickly and it become a non-issue. It also has this "painterly" quality that I like, so overall, I was digging the visuals. The anthology format was also on point - I felt like I would have gladly watched a few more vignettes in different time periods.

Off to a bad start with the geriatric female viking warrior, but i guess i'll stick with it.
I'm not sure she is even supposed to be that old, assuming her son Anders is 12-13, she could presumably be early 30's, even late 20's if she was married at the cultural norm of 15ish. Seems like they were making her in her 50's but then why have a son who is so young?
