Predator Franchise's New Animated Movie 'Killer of Killers' Revealed - "Hard R, Crazy Carnage"

just watched it, and it's actually better than I expected. the easter egg at the end was cool too and opens up to some interesting possibilities for the future. overall I really like it. hopefully we'll see more in the future.

btw, the creature in the big cryo chamber at the end before the "easter egg", had we seen it anywhere else before? I don't really recognize it.

I'm not sure she is even supposed to be that old, assuming her son Anders is 12-13, she could presumably be early 30's, even late 20's if she was married at the cultural norm of 15ish. Seems like they were making her in her 50's but then why have a son who is so young?

maybe they're going with the whole "life be rough back then and they looked more aged than they actually are" angle? :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Also, holy shit but apparently this movie was made using Unreal Engine 5.

That explains the framerate

Honestly, I really don't like that change. For decades, the movie lore has dictated that the Yautja are a (mostly) honorable race and respect the victor of a hunt by giving them a trophy (a gun in Predator 2 and a spear in AvP) and leaving them alone. This movie makes it seem that the purpose of their hunts is to select warriors for battle in coliseums... which means that Danny Glover might be somewhere on that ship just waiting to be woken up for battle... and really, what the hell is he gonna do in a coliseum battle?

Danny Glover after waking up from cryosleep:

If there's a silver lining here, it's that they've set up an easy way to bring back Arnold into the series canon. He turned down a cameo in The Predator because the script was garbage but maybe Trachtenberg can convince him to come back for the next one. Preferrably CGI so we don't have to deal with horrible de-aging tech since he's supposedly in cryo.

Apparently it's this thing from a comic:

the only way I'll watch this is torrent. Given the godawful art design, there is no way in hell I'll subscribe to Hulu to see it. The message must be loud and clear that feminism based media means money lost anyway. Predator stopped being good after Arnold never came back for the sequel. From the director of Prey isn't a selling point, either. That's a damn alarm bell if I ever saw one. 😂 No more 90 pound action stars!

Just saw this. Thought Prey was a much better movie. The characters here are like comic book super heroes with their combat ability & luck. The girl in Prey mostly used traps & stealth like Ahnold.

I thought it was amazing. 9/10 for sure for me. Wish it was even longer.

I have no idea what the hell people here are crying about feminism. I hate that stuff, but the old viking woman being badass wasn't feminist at all for me. It was also clear the samurai would wip her ass if he wanted when they fought.

Gave it a watch. It's hovering between a B- and C+ in rating. Here's where I'm feeling it ranks for me:

1) Predator
2) Prey
3) Predator: Dark Ages
4) Aliens Vs Predator
5/6) (Killer of Killers potentially here) <-----
5/6) Predator 2
5/6) (Killer of Killers potentially here) <-----
7) Predators
8) AVP 2
9) The Predator (2018)

All of my issues with this film lie with the writing around the pilot character. Nearly every incredible feat he does, specifically near the end, is almost as dumb as the kid in The Predator (2018) suddenly being able to control a Predator ship. Thankfully that ending scene 'let's go hunting' saves it from jumping the shark. I wanted to rate it higher since I really like the unique lore presented here along with some really cool shots (especially during act 2), but I can't due to that one character.

Also wanted to add, the reason I have AVP 2 above The Predator (2018) (even though AVP 2 is last on most people's lists) is because I literally almost DNF'd The Predator. I was mentally checked out for that final act/fight and I ended up doing chores while I had it playing on in the background which is the only reason why I even finished it. Not even AVP 2 made me feel that way.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I'm still wanting an experience where a Predator (while being a villain in the movie) unequivocally wins the battle and the movie ends. It can be a short film if it needs to be, but having a species of hunters lose all the time isn't as impactful unless we see some wins. Turn the 'horror' dial up a bit and this can happen.

I think AVP2 is definitely above The Predator. AVP2 doesn't do anything to really damage the universe (maybe some predator homeworld stuff but I think they keep that brief) its just not that good, partially because its so damn dark all the time.
The Predator ruins a whole bunch of the mythos around the predators.

To me AVP 2 was dumb but entertaining since it's a sequel to a crossover movie. You're right about The Predator ruining mythos, but also it somehow makes itself more boring, in a way that it shouldn't be, when you think about it's ideas (like the Super Predator).

Interesting movie. Ridiculous of course. Female viking had the strength of 10 men. Samurai were the best and coolest part. I liked the variety of predators. Clearly did not send their best.

Just watched most of it. The samurai part was badass, I thought the rest of it varying degrees of meh.

What I liked:
- The violence and fighting was cool. Predators deployed lots badass weapons and gory deaths.
- Visual design was cool, the predator designs were very awesome and the locations looked pretty cool.
- The idea of predator short stories across different timelines and different warrior cultures is an awesome idea.

Did not like:
- That animation style was hard to watch, it was so low framerate or just choppy or whatever, it was like staring into a strobe light. I felt like I needed a goddamn Dramamine to get through it. I have no idea why that style even exists. Who the hell wants to make that or watch that?
- With the exception of the Samurai predator, I think they missed the boat on the essence of the predator. He's not just raw brute strength but he's supposed to be cunning and intelligent as well. That Viking predator was dumb as rocks, oblivious as people snuck up jumped on its back. Unaware its got a giant anchor wrapped around its arm. Zero agility or awareness just like a big walking yeti or something. Also 80 year old woman swinging a boat anchor around over her head is dumb.
- Absolutely hated the pilot character. Idiotic non-funny slapstick comment every 5 seconds. Just too overboard on the cheese.

The Men in Black swallowed by the monster part at the end was absolutely stupid, that fits MIB or a comedy or Marvel. It just doesnt fit the predator vibe.

I didnt even finish final fight, the guy living inside the giant thing's stomach and then coming out of nowhere on a hovercraft and magically disarming the neck bombs made me eyeroll so hard i stopped to come straight here and bitch, and im probably not going back. Ill give it a D cause Im guessing it didnt get better.
That whole final coliseum act thing was just mid all over from what I saw. When the rancor thing swallowed that dumbass pilot I was like "Oh fuck here we go, now we're talking.". Then he Tommy Lee Jones's it inside the creatures stomach, magically hacks the predator neck cuff wifi in 10 seconds with a severed arm, and comes flying in off the top rope with a hoverbike? It just entirely jumped the shark right there. Writers have to do better.

I dunno, Id give the Samurai story an A. That was awesome and felt like predator.
Viking story gets a C
Pilot Story gets a D
Final Act D

I think my main feeling is very similar to Prey, it visually looked cool and there was some delicious violence but something just felt off about the Predators (Exception of the Samurai predator). They didnt feel like cunning hunters, more like big dumb giant alien Jason Voorhees or something

Extremely well said.

I think they really didn't. The first one was missing his arm, the third one was bald and missing an eye. This was clearly the handicap squad.
It would be an amusing story if Earth only rated the disabled/handicaped Predators because humans were basically a tutorial level threat.

Thought it was a bit dumb tbh...

Yautja are supposed to be honorable? But they abduct those who are victorious over them to then fight to the death with each other and huge monsters so the last one standing can face the hulking fresh and ready King predator 😆 fuck off.
