We recently saw another very likely fake rumor about a supposed upcoming 'State of Play'. I think it would be cool to make our own list Sony's E3 State of Play. Imagine you are Jimbo and have to make the list of games to be shown in their big E3 / summer digital event or conference.
I think that Sony's summerish event roadmap would look like this:
-Late May: indie focused State of Play
-Mid June: post 'E3' big summer event
-Mid August: fighting game focused event at EVO finals
-Early September: Horizon focused State of Play
-Late September: Indies focused State of Play
This is my list for their main summer event, that would be made around the E3 days.
Pre-show:
-Little Devil Inside gameplay trailer and release date (PS5, PC July 2021)
-Kena gameplay tariler and release date (PS4, PS5, PC August 2021)
-Deathloop gameplay tariler and release date (PS5, PC September 2021)
-JETT: The Far Shore (PS4, PS5, PC, September 2021)
-Ghostwire Tokyo story trailer and release date (PS5, PC, October 2021)
-Stray gameplay tariler and release date (PS4, PS5, PC, November 2021)
-Sifu gameplay tariler and release date (PS4, PS5, PC, December 2021)
-Announcement of a couple of new indies for 2021
-Announcement of their game subscription and streaming strategy improvements (PS Now and Plus)
Main show:
-Death Stranding Director's Cut (PS4, PS5 September 2021)
-CoD BO5 gameplay reveal and release date (October 2021)
-TLOU2 Factions (PS4, PS5 October 2021)
-Horizon Zero Dawn gameplay demo and release date (PS4, PS5, November 2021)
-GTA 5 Viagra Edition gameplay footage (PS5, December 2021)
-Forspoken/Project Athia gameplay trailer and release date (PS5, January 2022)
-Gran Turismo 7 gameplay demo and release date (PS4, PS5, February 2022)
-God of War Ragnarok gameplay reveal and release date (PS4, PS5, March 2022)
-Final Fantasy XVI gameplay trailer (PS5, May 2022)
-Spider-Man 2 (PS5, September 2022)
-2nd party multiplayer AAA new IP from Firewalk teaser (PS5, October 2022)
-Final Fantasy VII Remake episode 2 (PS4, PS5, 2023)
-PSVR2 headset teaser (late 2022)
Then in August at the EVO finals they'd make a fighting games related State of Play where they'd announce more stuff:
-Virtua Fighter eSports (Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown in Asia) rollback netcode patch+paid DLC coming (PS4, PS5, PC, September 2021)
-Guilty Gear -Strive- DLC (PS4, PS5, PC, October 2021)
-The King of Fighters XV released date trailer + new characters (PS4, PS5 November 2021)
-Marvel fighting game from NetherRealm announcement trailer (multi and crossgen, marketing deal with Sony 2022)
-Tekken 8 announcement teaser (multi, marketing deal with Sony, 2022)
-Project L (Riot's League of Legends fighting game) final name reveal behind the scenes video (PS4, PS5, PC, crossplay timed console exclusive, 2023)
-Street Fighter 6 announcement teaser (multi and crossgen, marketing deal with Sony Q1 2023)
What do you think Sony will announce or show in their big summer event(s)?
Edit: Just after the Death Stranding's Director's Cut announcement Geoff said Sony would make a full reveal of the game in a few weeks. So I just added it to the list, and also made some tweaks since some fighting games already have been released.
