Preorder Quantum Break for Xbox One, Get Windows 10 version for free - also HW specs

This is really cool, but the more I think about it, the more I'm torn about what I'll actually do. Initially I figured I'd preorder the Bone version since I don't mind getting it digitally (as a Remedy fanboy I doubt I would find myself wanting to sell the game after playing it), but with my setup, I can't imagine when I would play it on Xbox instead of PC. It's not like PS3 Portal 2 which had a real "use" for two copies considering the game's cross-platform multiplayer. I might just forego the "buy one get both" deal to just get the PC version with the GCU or Prime discount.

so glad its directx only, the amount of draw frames that this game is is insane and awesome, only directx 12 can do that on a pc

Specs seem high for an XB1 game. Curious to see how it looks on PC as for that I'd expect a significant boost over XB1 version.

Was going to get windows 10 this summer anyways so this sounds great. I'm really liking what microsoft is doing this generation. If only they put the halo games on windows 10 as well (forza too).

I thought DX12 was supposed to make games hella efficient but that 6GB VRAM requirement looks mighty scary.

It'll be for the highest quality textures just as it is in other games like ROTR. The textures available for cards with lower amounts of VRAM will still be highly detailed, just not as highly detailed. In ROTR the differences at 1080p are minimal between high and very high textures.

So the 970 won't even get me 1080p60? Damn...but what else would you expect from a AAA PC game?

It won't get you 1080p60 on Dead Rising 3, Ryse, or Rise of the Tomb Raider on PC either... and guess what all those games have in common ;)

Edit: I think I'm wrong about Ryse.

Sure it will, just not at max settings most likely. Resolution and framerate are not lord and master in terms of load on the hardware.
Nope. Nopety nope.

Welp. Just cancelled my physical pre-order and replaced it with a digital one. If this is the future bring it on. All digital all the time.

Okay...this

g-sync doesn't require exclusive fullscreen
you can add to steam if you really want to (overlay doesn't work though overlay support is coming
dxtory works as a fps counter on rise of the tomb raider
thought things like aa injectors are liked by pc gamers they are insecure and this platform is about protecting xbox live as a platform (cheating in mutliplayer, etc)

It's a single player game...

Everything looks ok except for this part:

I can't think of a single game that uses half of that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't most games at 4K eat up 4-5GB tops?

Arkham Knight on pc unofficially needs 12gb. Like the official one was 8 then they finally came out and stated that players would need 12.

I hope the low settings on the game looks great because those minimum specs seem a bit high.

Maybe the game linked to the XBL account.... No with a code

The FAQ page literally says people who pre-order will be sent a redemption code via Xbox Live.

HOW DO I GET THE WINDOWS 10 VERSION OF THE GAME FOR FREE?

Starting February 11, anyone who pre-orders the digital version of “Quantum Break” for Xbox One through the Xbox Store will receive the Windows 10 version of the game for free, downloadable at the Windows Store via redemption code. The pre-order offer also applies for those who redeem a digital code purchased from participating retailers or from the Xbox One Special Edition Quantum Break Bundle by April 5, 2016.

HOW WILL I RECEIVE THE WINDOWS 10 CODE? HOW DO I ACTIVATE IT?

After you pre-order a digital copy of “Quantum Break” for Xbox One through the Xbox Store, you will receive a system message over Xbox Live that includes a 5x5 redemption code for the Windows 10 version of the game. Codes will be issued shortly after launch.

Of course, it's possible they're being a bit cheeky with that wording but it seems pretty clear-cut to me.

The poster you're quoting is referring to VRAM and you're referring to RAM.

Arkham Knight does not require a GPU with 8-12GB of VRAM.

Those recommended specs are ridicuballs. My PC runs laps around the Xbone, but I would be nuts to try running it on the former. Still, I suppose I can always save it for when I upgrade again in a few years time. I won't snub free.

Welcome to the digital future. I've been on digital this whole gen and haven't looked back. I'm thinking that the next Xbox will have back compat and will be just like XB360 (have the digital game and it shows up in your library). Now with cross-buy with PC, even more incentive to go digital.

3570k @4.5 970 Ftw 16gb, will just lock at 1080/30 and see how high I can push the settings. I don't need 60 for a game like this. Driving games and FPS games, sure.
