Are you serious? Trump had like 5 talking points and kept repeating them over and over again until he went ballistic by the end. Hilary was way more consistent and looked cool and calm compared to him.

Also recent reports seem to suggest that Clinton actually technically won the debate. Will see the results tomorrow of course.

Trump started the debate launching right into a bunch of nativism and some weird attempt to present the Mexican sales tax as some sort of tariff on American goods, calling it a VAT presumably so that people wouldn't know how what tax he was actually talking about. I really, really don't see any sort of "strong start" of the debate for Donald Trump.

He's graded on a curve. Discipline was his only requirement and he failed but he gave it a few minutes. Tax returns and the Birther movement broke his brain.

I think temperament and composure go hand in hand. Hillary kept it together the entire debate. Trump fell apart and was the only one seeming like he had to "fight." That's mostly because his positions are way harder to defend.

Therefore I think all the talk of temperament was bullshit. Hillary did fine on this front. Trump came off more as a bumbling fool fighting for scraps on the talking points.

Clinton missed a lot of moments to blame Republican obstructionism for all the '20 years of policy failure' Trump kept levying at her. Most of the wrongs he's throwing at them haven't been because Dems haven't been trying to do the right thing, but more because Republicans won't fucking let them.

Really, all she has to do is this: Pause for a second, after a spate of Trump interruptions and petulance and grandstanding, and say this to the camera: "Look at the way this man conducts himself. Imagine he's in a meeting with a foreign power with whom tensions are high; Do you think he will diffuse the situation or make it worse?" You force people to look at him in that context, and for anyone with any rational imagination whatsoever, that's a death blow.

I think she may be trying to not focus much on the republican party as a whole to try and increase her odds. Trump doesn't really represent the republican platform that well.

Like, this election feel more about the candidates than the parties they represent compared to past elections, but that could just be me.
