TOKYO--Although Nintendo's Famicom Mini Game Boy Advance series has been in a hit in Japan, retailers have revealed that the company has recently shipped its last batch of Famicom (NES) themed GBA SP models to stores. The company has released two models of Famicom-themed GBA SP during the past year. One was a limited edition themed on the Famicoms controller pad, while the other model is colored like the original Famicom console.
The Famicom console themed GBA SP can still be purchased in stores at the retail price of 12,500 yen ($114), which is the same price as any other GBA SP. But after this last shipment, both Famicom themed GBA SPs will become a collectors item.
