Project Motor Racing

From a key group of guys who worked on the classic GTR series then the Project CARS series now brings Project Motor Racing which releases later this Fall.

I wasn't a fan of Project CARS 3 and straight overlooked it, but I really liked the other games. Project Motor Racing has me intrigued.

Take a look at the Single-Player Career Mode Trailer for Project Motor Racing, a racing simulation game developed by Giants Software. Players will compete on the track in both Single Player Career and Online Racing Modes, offering over 70 iconic cars across 10 definitive racing classes. Burn rubber in legendary cars and become a legend in Project Motor Racing, launching on November 25 for PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).

I don't know what to think about the idea of having to balance your budget to repair your car and to pay to sign up for events. Or about risking a bankruptcy and game over after a big crash, forcing to restart the career. I'll probably turn off that 'hardcore mode' and just restart a race if something goes wrong.

The game's definitely on my list, but based on the launch state of pCARS 1 & (especially) 2 I'll wait for the impressions.

Quick question, what made Project Cars 2 and 3 so reviled? I guess this is the same dev team, right?
Project CARS 1 and 2 were great simcades (leaning more towards simulation) with awesome physics, handling, weather, tire & fuel simulation, track selection and career modes. The only problem with them was that they both launched in poor state and were slowly repaired over the next few months.

Project CARS 3 made a drastic switch towards arcade and that drove away fans of 1 & 2. It's one of the reasons why the game sold poorly.

I don't see Project cars 1 and 2 as simcades, they were sims. Just because the physics weren't quite on the level of saying iracing doesn't make it in anyway arcade, as arcade is a design choice from the beginning to make the games accessible and fun. To me a simcade is something like the Forza Horizon series, which has the underlying physics engine of the Motorsport games but has been tweaked to have more grip for fun or arcade sake

I think it depends on your own definition. I consider Forza Horizon an arcade game (even though I agree there are some sim elements underneath) and Forza Motorsport a simcade. Like I said pCARS was definitely closer to sims, but it still isn't an inaccessible game for newcomers like iRacing or even AC.

Watch the Gameplay Trailer for Project Motor Racing, an upcoming simulation racing game developed by Giants Software.

Take a look at the latest trailer showcasing the speed, sounds, and high-octane action of being behind the wheel of a high-powered vehicle gunning for victory. Project Motor Racing is launching on November 25 for PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Project Motor Racing is now available with full mod support across all platforms. Racers tackle the unforgiving world of professional motorsport in single player "Survival"-style career and test their limits in Cross-Play Ranked Online, no-fee custom lobbies, and 2 leaderboards. Enjoy 13 classes of 70 era-defining machines on 28 scanned track layouts, each a living, fully reactive rival. Driving is done, time to race!

I haven't had much time to play Project Motor Racing myself. However, I have seen several early impressions of this game from a few reliable sim racing game players. And the overall synopsis from majority of these guys is that Project Motor Racing has likely been released too soon as it is plagued with rather weird bugs and glitches. In one particular example, I saw reviewers and others from the sim racing community point out that a few hypercars that are fitted with wet tire compounds actually handle better than medium tire compounds on a completely dry race track. There has also been mention of some competing CPU AI cars being generally reckless during races, among some other stuff.

I do plan to get into Project Motor Racing within a few days despite the overall barrage of (deserving) criticism this game has gotten. I like the Factory Driver Challenges feature very much.

I am completely out after reading the reviews and impressions. There's just too many things wrong with it in addition to the (pretty major) bugs & glitches. Switching to the Farming Sim engine turned out to be a horrible mistake as it made the game incredibly hardware-consuming and it's also a reason why it looks bad on consoles and doesn't support races with more than 16 cars (lol). The career also seems very bad with how the time trials are locked behind the online paywall or how the AI is behaving and only you are getting penalized for crashes and leaving the track. So this means it's very easy to get a 'game over' in the hardcore career for something that's not your fault.

I don't see how the studio can turn things around like they did with pCARS 1 & 2, it's more likely they're not going to be around anymore in 6 months from now. It's sad that we were supposed to play Rennsport and PMR in the same month and instead of a great racing month we got two major disappointments that aren't worth the money.

Don't we have enough sim racers? Let's bring in more high quality arcade racers now.
I agree we need more arcade type racing this generation. Gt7 already suffice for simulation. GT is the goat in simulation and racing. For arcade type, I want too see the revival of Rage racer or Ridge racer franchise and of course Motorstorm. I enjoyed Motorstorm.

I mean GT is a fantastic racing game....but let's not try to put the game near iracing, assetto corsa, Richard Burns and automobilista as a simulator.....
Is not even near.....

Several improvements and bug fixes has been made to Project Motor Racing after Patch Update 1.5.0.1 released a few days ago.

I've been observing various streamers of Project Motor Racing as of late. Some of these streamers are hosting online races, some are playing Single Player Career mode, some are testing AI on different settings in Single Player races, etc. No matter which mode these streamers are playing, all of them have acknowledged vast improvements in various areas of PMR which I think is really good news.

I'd take a remaster of Burnout Revenge and Burnout Takedown and be good on racing for a long time.

And can we drop the silly Project naming convention from all racing series? It's just so dumb already lol

A short term road map for Project Motor Racing was posted earlier this week.

Patch Update 1.5.0.3 was released earlier today. Among the additions and improvements on this patch update include a much-needed radar.
