8.8

Snowblind epitomizes sound development. It's as well-rounded a title as we're likely to see on this current generation of platforms. While it lacks a certain degree of charm, it more than makes up for its slight hint of the mundane with a diverse and extraordinarily well-paced sort of action.

A must buy for shooter fans.

8.5 Presentation
The storyline does not fill us with wonder like Crystal D's own Soul Reaver did, but its clear that no expense was spared when it came to overall production values.
9.5 Graphics
Incredible environments, wicked particle effects, and slick animations make for a technically outstanding title. The artwork even manages to reinvigorate the dying near future sci-fi theme.
7.5 Sound
Actors aren't as enthusiastic as we'd like soldiers in a war to be and the in-game banter is relatively mild. Snowblind does excel with its general effects but the music often feels too techno-mellow.
9.0 Gameplay
Precisely paced and extremely entertaining, Snowblind empowers its players and keeps them captivated by way of its meticulously planned action segments.
7.5 Lasting Appeal
A few multiplayer modes are always welcome over no multiplayer modes, but the standard assortment of mixed and matched gameplay styles hardly screams of originality.
8.8 OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

Interesting, I thought the beta was crap

Even Acclaim made Vexx, Eidos is a sight better and has at least SOME odds in their favor. Sad to read about the music though, that can make or break an FPS with me. As long as I can make a headshot that'll make a body go end over end, it's all good.

We can do that in this game right? Right? Or was that some dream I had? I'm pretty sure I read it in a book somewhere...

9.5 for graphics? lol, IGN's standards are so low.

Seriously...I'm questioning myself whether the beta I played was actually a different game...I doubt it was improved in just a few months

Please point me to a FPS for PS2 with better graphics thank you very much.

Project Snowblind deserves the praise, really. I was quite impressed by it. Expecially considering it's the very first FPS ever done by Crystal D. And I think some multiplayer ideas (like having different classes with specific weapons and augmentations) are neat.

Edit: BTW, from Edge's review (7 out of 10):
Ultimately, Snowblind is among the best firstperson shooters available on PS2 – even down to providing a smooth aiming system on the DualShock sticks – but considering the current exalted standards of the rest of the FPS landscape, that’s nearly damning it with faint praise. While Snowblind never truly escapes the feeling of being a well-dressed, derivative run’n’gun shooter, it never fails to get the running and gunning right, and in that respect, at least, it’s a sound success.

OXM says that this is a 5 hour game. WTF? How about a $29.99 price point.

It's not the longest game ever made, but it lasts as much as it should without getting repetitive.

What the hell does that mean? Now i can understand the whole "quality over quantity" argument. But 5 hours? You know what, i enjoyed Goldeneye: Rogue Agent for aboout 2 hours, then it started to suck. But i guess if they would have just ended the game after the 2 hour mark, then it would have been a good game by your logic.

Now i don't know if the game is 5 hours or not, but i think it is commonly accepted that a FPS should last, at the very least, 10 hours. I think it takes very little talent at all to make a play mechanic that is somewhat fun for a short length of time. But a game, especially one that is priced $50, should give more than 5 hours worth of fun gameplay.

Maybe i'm alone in this one, but if the actual meat of the game does turn out to be just 5 hours long, then this game had better be a budget title.

Sounds like something that either a viral marketer would say or someone who worked on the game in some way.

No. Games "shouldn't' bend to any pretentious rule. A game lasts what it is meant to last and that's it. Besides, I think his point is simply stating that the game is enjoyable from start to finish, without trying to last a couple of hours more with lame excuses for gameplay just to match a supposed minum requirement of time.

No, don't buy it and carry on. No one forces you to buy anything.

Indeed. And did I say I completed the game in 5 hours? Nope. Actually it took 3 days, but you know, in games you die, in games you go around searching for things, try something and stuff like that so yeah, maybe if I had some kind of invulnerablility cheat code on and knew where to go I could have probably completed the game in about that time. And it would have been a breeze nevertheless.

Hmm...so maybe this game is actually good?

"So if you liked the look and feel of the Deus Ex games but couldn't get past the clunky combat, or if you just don't dig the whole role-playing-game thing, Project: Snowblind is just perfect for you. It's unlikely that Project: Snowblind will completely destroy you, because its pieces are a little too common to incite a paradigm shift. But the pieces are well conceived, and they're effectively assembled into a fast-paced and easy-to-get-into shooter with action that's responsive and just unique enough to entertain."

IF you buy this game it is for the multiplayer.

I'll get this from Gamefly eventually and go through the single player mode.

I looked into this one a bit more (might buy it if some of my friends decide to pick it up too). Through the game's website, you can check out the stats page at

http://stats.projectsnowblind.com/stats/

When you click on a player's name, you can see the detailed stats that are being tracked. It's pretty nifty, if nothing else :).

Judging from the login/pass field on the page, you can probably see more personal-level stats too.
