Project Wingman updating on Steam

Did this game ever live up to being an ace combat competitor, I know it was just an early access thing when it first released but how much more fleshed out did the game get

I backed it on Kickstarter but still haven't played it lol.
My fiends enjoyed it and the AC community also enjoyed it

I just fear I get in and it's like 5 missions and 4 jets.

Or the gameplay loop is alot of replaying the same content.

Or it could be amazing and better than most AAA games

Early access stuff can really go either way unfortunately

It doesn't have the pizazz of Ace Combat but it's great at being an Ace Combat spin off. It runs a bit duff on the series X but the PC version was good, runs great on the Deck too.

Can't wait for the update.

I played it in VR on PC a little bit and it wasn't that great. The graphics look really rough in that mode and the performance was totally inadequate for what it had to offer visually. Probably didn't help that I jumped into it not long after finishing Star Wars Squadrons in VR, which looks fabulous.

Ah ok, that's a bit of a bummer. But hey if it goes on sale or something I'll check it out

You can play the whole campaign in VR so it gets bonus points for that, pretty solid 8 hours long and then they added a survival mode.

I played the whole campaign in VR and it was all pretty smooth sailing, I super sampled it maybe that helped and was using a hp g2 so that probably helped aswell. The early planes were trash because the canopy on all of them restricted vision but once I got an f16 that fixed that, beautiful canopy with nothing obscuring your view.

edit: Video of first mission in VR, some stuff later is way better visually speaking but I don't want to post spoilers.

it does look super ace combat looking at that HUD which is not a bad thing at all.

definitely keen to try it some day

Played this for a little bit on gamepass until it got pulled. Having played just about every Ace Combat game, this is definitely an Ace Combat game at heart, minus all the cutscenes. Plays exactly the same too. I went ahead and bought this for steam just now because the update looks like it brings significant changes.
