It's absolutely necessary. There are some people who recognize the value of human lives and then there are those who don't. I suggest we at least get something about them, and what better way to prevent future incidents than understanding murderers like this? You have lots of natural impulses that are incompatible with living in a civilized society. Vengeance may have been useful when we lived in tribes and hurled rocks at each other, but it is rather pointless and petty if you stop to think about it. There's a really great part in a book I just read, No Country For Old Men, about this:
