PS2 and GC Resident Evil 4 Screenshot Comparison!!!

Jeez, guys, I'd be shocked as hell if the PS2 version looked as good as the GC. Wasn't this title built from the ground up to take advantage of GC's strengths?

Capcom's done an amazing job porting this marquee title to aging hardware. They've come a lot closer to duplicating the GC visuals than I ever thought they would.

To which I say, kudos. Now more people can experience this awesome, awesome game.

ouch GC version really slaughters the ps2-version

thats stupid! the ps2 version looks really close to the gc one. the differences are minimal and the new content will make up for that.

That looks hideous. to be fair, we all know that the PS2 is famous for weak screen capturing, i'm sure the differences in game will be much smaller than they seem here. I still won't be buying it again, I can't even begin to imagine how annoyingly inaccurate the dual shock stick will prove given the precise aiming you need throughout the game.

This thread is worthless without Zeo's rantings. :lol

Obviously the PS2 version took a hit on the visual side. But not nearly to the extent I thought it would. Definitely a re-purchase for me as I love the GC build and have run through it multiple times.

Extra content gets me dollars, matey!

GC is much worse for captures

I wish they'd made an Xbox version. Then we'd get the best of both worlds. Plus better lighting, textures and faster loading.

It would be cool if there was an Xbox version so everyone would have a shot at playing this most stellar of games.

Wasn't this one of the pics shown when the PS2 version was first unvieled?

Seriously though...is there even a reason to purchase the PS2 version if you've already completed the GC one?

Why make a game for a dead system?

<RUNS MUCH FASTER>

Those screen grabs dont do it justice becoz the game lacks AA. You need to see the game in motion to see just how much the GCN version slaughter the PS2 version it aint even funny.

this is gonna sound like damage control, but the area above in the gc version didn't look all that great either. i played the game 6 times, i should know

actually im gonna replay it now and check :P

Watched the E3 trailer video, not bad. Not as good as the GC version, obviously, but the PS2 version looks close looking at the E3 trailer.

They have improved the lightning and frame rate since then, watch the small Sony Party RE34 trailer you will notice how the frame rate has improved (during gameplay) but the fire effect looks weak. Even the lighting on Leon's face has improved since E3 :P

That's a shame if true because one of the coolest graphical elements was the fire in RE4.

The PS2 version looks pretty decent (not the horror most people thought/hoped it would be), but the GC one has an obvious visual edge. Unless the PS2 version has AMAZING fucking new stuff, there's no way I'm buying this again. The logic still applies; if you have a GC or could easily afford one, and you just waited for the PS2 version, you're an idiot.

Good thing I'm not a graphix whore and can enjoy the TRUE VERSION. :lol

Yeah, you already can. The true version is the GC version because it was natively developed for that machine. The other version is "the port". :lol

Sure, maybe for graphix whores. The PS2 version has true widescreen plus XTRA content, ie the true director's vision. Also as Wario said, less barrels = more challenge = GC version = teh kiddie version.

You know I'm right.

But but that would be terrible as they would have to admit that it would be the superior version.

That RE5 shot is priceless.

You think you're right. It's an opinion obviously and really isn't black and white.

I hope people realize that most of those shots were released at E3 time and have poor contrast. The actual game does not look like that...

Oh, and this is the worst screenshot comparison I've ever seen. The other thread linked to a page with a much more accurate comparison.

The fact that the PS2 version supports TRUE widescreen and 480p is very nice. The result should be sharper image quality (especially for those that were forced to use a zoom mode on their TVs).

Jesus fucking christ....you guys are acting like a bunch of fucking little children.

RE4 is a fucking awesome game and the more people that get to play it and experience it, the better.

Put your damn fanboyism aside and just be happy that Capcom has given the game to both systems and that you have the opportunity to play it.

oh snap i thought this was a x360 vs. GC comparison of RE........

and i thought shinji mikami(sp?) didn't want to bother with the port? so the GC is the true director's vision

So basically you're saying that the US GC version is more kiddie than the PAL one. I mean, the PAL version has actually less ammo-drops.

..

God, PS2 version looks awful. Too much jaggies all around. GCN version is cleaner and smoother.
Thumbs up @ GCN version
Thumbs down @ PS2 version

..
..

*runs*

PS2 version looks fine. Even if graphically it's 90-95% of the GC it will have made it worth not having to buy a GC for this one game. Especially since there will be extra content.
