Notice the IGN.COM label?
That's the GameCube version from TGS-2004.
Position 1.08.582

Unfortunately, I couldn't get the exact frame matched up with the shareware software I'm using. But, I think it's close enough to prove my point.

*edit*
Should be more accurate now. I see what they did now, they just colored in the IGN.COM label with black and then called it a PS2 shot. The sad part is that all the fanboys that got fooled by that fake comparison won't make a big deal out of and will still act as if they can actually tell the difference.

*double edit*
How retarded! Someone actually labeled the PS2 shot as the GC shot and vice versa.
Holy crap PS2 Haters pwned.

This is from the E3 PS2 trailer.

hilarious if true.

For those not in the tiny dick waving portion of this conversation...Any one else surprised how good the fire effects look on the PS2 version? I thought that'd be the first thing to get downgraded.

The whole package is pretty impressive. I'd like to see the real thing in motion.

I don't really give two shits about the whole Nintendo vs. Sony thing, or which version is "superior." But I always get pissed off at the whole double dipping phenomena that's not only seen in games but in DVDs as well. Companies will release something, then like a year later will suddenly come out with a newer, better version. Capitilism for the win, I suppose.

I don't really care for them porting this over to PS2, but it's not really like DVDs are ported from one system to another. Even if they are adding some content, it's not the same.

Well, then the videos must be labled wrong, or there was some massive increase in texture quality for the different regions. Because you can NOT tell me that this is from the same version:

I gotta agree that the textures don't look the same.

Maybe the Player's Choice version will have the "PS2 exlusive" content. I kinda doubt it, but it would be nice (assuming the extra content is any good.)

Which thread type derails faster? N/X/PSbot or 60fps?

HDTV threads don't count because they genuinely are confusing.

Although I notice a difference between the 2 versions, its not night and day like some make it out to be. Its actually a lot closer than what I initially expected and some of these visual differences could be chalked up to the capturing process. The texturing is the main offender I noticed but like I said, its not too bad.

Hate to break up the bitchfest since it's so amusing, but I have a genuine question pertaining to the PS2 version of the game. Is there any word on what the load times and framerate are like? The port looks pretty damn good going by the screenshots, the extra content sounds nice, but how steady is the framerate, there any word if the game has sudden dips like the PS2 port of Killer 7? How long will the loading screens be between each area? Have areas been remodeled torun more smoothly on the PS2?

Sorry if I'm asking questions that have been answered, but I didn't see much outside of nitpicking and cock waggling as I skimmed through the thread.

WHY DID YOU GUYS WAIT 10 MONTHS FOR THE PS2 VERSION WHEN YOU COULD HAVE BOUGHT A USED GC AND RE4 FOR ABOUT $80?"

Well yeah, of course I would have said that. It's the best way to go.

That's right. GameCube version all the way. The PS2 version is still going to be fun, nonetheless. Can't wait for Shadow of Collosuss, Karsi of Mark, and God of War on my brandnew PS2.

To those of you who think that the GC and PS2 El-Gigante look the same, here are some shots of the GC El-Gigante to compare to.

Really, other than being the same size it looks like they revamped him a good deal:

did you play RE4 all the way through? There are at least 3 different El Gigante models in the game, and that ps2 shot is what one of them looks like in the caves towards the end.

Using the TGS 2004 GC RE4 trailer is deceptive as it wasn't the final version. Then again, neither is RE4 PS2 but it's being ported from the final GC build anyway. Plus the hair is different. I forgot how her hair looked in the final GC game, but I'm going with the PS2 look...

AniHawk: RE2 looked on par with the PSone without an expansion pak and better with. It sounded worse.

Someone needs to change my tag to OWNED!!! or PWND!! or something because I TOTALLY forgot that there was more than one despite beating the game. Could someone post a pic of the 3rd model? Me=stupid (and rightully so), bows head in utter disgrace:(

Sooo... if the pic on the right is actually from an early unpolished version of the GCN version of RE4, does that mean that all of the similar "look at how far they've gotten" washed-out bad-texture jaggy pics seen in this thread are actually early GCN version pics, not really PS2 version pics?

And if the pic on the left was passed off as the PS2 version in an official trailer by Capcom themselves, does this mean that Capcom's putting GameCube version video clips into their PS2 version trailer, in an attempt to make the game look better?

:D

No...all it means is whoever initially did the comparison on GAF mislabled the pics.

MARK AND REMEMBER.
When this argument comes back when it's PS3 vs XBox and people are pointing at a couple of textures as proof as to which version is better, the spectre of this thread will float up all your asses.

Definitely. Here Sonybots claim content is better, but when we see a XBox360 vs PS3 debate, it will be all about the graphics and not the "content".

i'm gutted i finished this game months and months ago, i could have pretended i gave a fuck.

THAT IS AN OLD GC BUILD

WHY CAN'T YOU PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THIS

PLEASE USE A FINAL BUILD

KTHXBYE

So, you propose we compare a final build of the GC version against an old E3 build of the PS2 version?

Yes and no.

Yes, because the PS2 port is obviously based on the final GC build, and no, because we should wait until the final game.
