PS2: wireless controller or extension cable?

Well I'm sick of tripping on wires dammit. My consoles are on the coffee table and walking between it and the TV stand, I tripped several times and sent the cube flying. :(

The Wavebird solved my gamecube problem. Now it's safe in the TV stand. The problem is with my PS2. The controller's cable just isn't long enough to put it in the TV stand so it has to stay close to the sofa. Two possible solutions:

- not sony first party which makes me a bit worried. I couldn't find any sony extensions. O_o

- I heard stuff about adaptors (that let you use non-ps2 controllers/arcade sticks) having input lag... Do controller extensions have the same problem?

- made by a company called Hip Gear...

Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance. XD

Logitech Cordless Action Controller. Your $40 will be more than justified. I think it's the best controller for PS2, wireless or otherwise.

Looks very cool and the reviews are pretty good, thanks.

I just realized I still need to get an extension for the arcade stick though (you’d think with that size it'd be wireless -__-) so does anybody here own a Mad Catz (or any other) extension...?

Second that - it's a great controller.

I second the Logitech controller choice.

Please stay FAR away for the Hip Gear wireless controllers, they are total crap. Whenever I sell one, 3 come back defective.

I just bought a Mad Catz extension for $5 at Gamestop. It was in some yellow packaging. It works perfectly; no lag. Rolls up into a weird plastic roller, you can cut it off if you want as its a bit unwieldy, but it does keep wires neat.

I've never heard of an extension cord adding input lag; how could it?

I can't stand those Logitech controllers. The sticks feel loose as hell to me and I'm a stalwart of the split-cross on the dualshock.

Yeah, the logitech one is great, but lacks the DS2 precision in detecting the amount of pressure applied to the buttons. It's really evident in games like MGS3 and GT3.

:D Amazon has it for under $30, free shipping, no tax!

One note, grab some recharge-able batteries along with it as well AA's of course. I would say the most suprising thing, is that the rumble is very strong as well. Suck it down Wavebird. And on the new skinny PS2's, you'll need to put the system on the stand, since the controller ports hug so close to the ground.

Ok so Mad Catz and Intec are the only companies making PS2 controller extensions? The only first party one I saw came free with an accessory pack at amazon and it's been discontinued. what the hell. o_O

Yeah I thought that didn't make sense since they're just extending a wire (and not changing signal or whatever adaptors do) but I'm paranoid so I had to ask. :D ^^''

That's the only reason why I'm hesitting, but I guess now I'll decide when I actually get them. loose sticks aren't that detrimental for RPGs though and I have a backlog of about a dozen of them (mostly psx ones) so it'll be worth it.

heh, will do. I just put those up there cuz they were the first result in the ebgames search.
