PS3 controller may be totally ace to play with

I thought the controller was small.

From the looks of the shot you posted, somebody has a gif to redo. Either that or the guy with the gloves has enormous hands.

That controller seemed pretty small when I saw it behind the glass at E3. What's throwing people off is that they assume that the analog sticks are the same size as those on DS2, but they are in fact smaller on the PS3 controller.

Yup. The DS2 analogs are nearly as big as the entire d-pad. The PS3 analogs are not even close.

the first DS is ace. the only issue i've ever had with it is that , after playing FPSs on the S-controller, it feels a little unnatural.

Saying that, playing WE on the S-controller feels totally wrong as well - so it might just be familiarity.

I don't know if the boomershock is the final controller or not, but only a fool would pass judgement on it without trying it out first (same goes for the rev, haters)

I mean, the Duke looks like a pregnant Dreamcast pad, but some people LOVE it. Until you've played something with it in hand, you'll never know.

The dual shock wasnt very ergonomic to begin with, it was complete garbage for FPS games, but this thing is a huge step back.

mini USB port is interesting - surely allows for some usb style adapters like a pulse or something that could be picked up by two sensors a la the Rev?

cheap light gun adapter?

cheap gyro?

could just be for charging though :D

A great example (that was posted somewhere, i'm not sure if it was posted on GAF or another message board) is to wrap your hand around the circumfrance of a CD. Its almost the same feeling you should get from having the DS3 in your hands (since a CD and the DS3 are almost the same size). I tried it and my hands were comfortable and all the buttons would be in reach.

Note: I have small hands (i'm 5'4)

how about this?

have the DS style controller or what ever, and have USB port connectors (i'd draw a diagram, but...)

then have the analogue , digital and buttons as removable USB devices.

O----O
..O-O

So... this way you can have :

--D--B--
--A--A-- (D)igital (b)uttons (a)nalogue - DS2 config

--A--B--
--D--A-- Duke config

--A--A--
--D--B-- remote control plane config

--?--?--
--?--?-- cheap addons for specific games config

e.g.

--D+ -- B1
--B2 -- B3 ... where D+ is an improved D pad and B1-B3 are larger buttons for SF games
?

Okay, might be impractical to actually produce, but this sort of controller means that games can config the controller to exactly how they want it to be.

Prefer the duke style control for FPS? fine... prefer the DS style? no problems... want it left handed? No worries...

The controller becomes a base and you configure it exactly as you want.

A still think tons of guys will come home and sniff their PS3 controller and know immediately that their wife/girlfriend has been abusing the vibrate function.

is it like wizard? that's totally wizard? or that's so raven?

:lol

I had similar thoughts when I saw the thread title. "The PS3 is totally boss, and the controller is totally wizard!"

I thought it would be alright, the first time I saw it.

But it's apparent that it's WAY TOO FREAKING SMALL.

Perhaps Sony has a new technology to shrink your hands. They love to make everything else smaller; why stop at electronics?

or maybe they are just showing the JPN controller model first, given the japanese already have dinky hands?

I once saw a chef with monster hands at a Kyoto steakhouse. They were big like Godzilla's.

Doesn't make too much sense considering it was unveiled at E3, no?
