PS3 Home Official Thread

The Buzz timer should definitely be shorter. Anyone with a laptop in front of them can google and walk to the answer way before the timer runs out.

Besides that, the presentation is kinda lame since you can just go with the mob (if they're generally right) and win.

At least 1 vs 100 has that issue fixed by only cheating with that in the "crowd" by going with the fastest answer (which may/may not be the right answer :lol )

Also letting users choose which topic sucks, 9/10 of the time I had video game questions (too easy) or Family Guy (blech) every freaking round. So lame.

The Namco space is pretty lame since the cabinets can't be used unless you have the Namco Mueseum (which isn't on the store yet :lol ). There is an idolmaster (in before Icecream posts?) vending machine space that gives out some home rewards, but good fucking luck getting anything from that since the wheel spins fast and I have yet to see how to get it to pick what I want.

Haven't been to fight night yet, but I'm sure there is some rewards there while it misses a bunch of potential like other EA sports space (thank god they didn't bring black Poker tables in yet, considering the EA Poker spaces can be glitched/lagged/generally messed with to make the game unenjoyable, having someone pay $5,000 to get into the table only to be lag-switched would be fucking stupid).

Still no RE5/Bio5 space update (I want my Wesker glasses :(). And still no free content, I bet that Killzone outfit they touted in the blog post yesterday is pay-for. So lame.

Home is still falling on it's face for me, and the only reason I boot it's long-ass up is to play free Poker (and try to get the Gold Bracelet :lol :lol )

[Also, Sup Cruz?]

Home locked up my PS3 4 times today... Club Fight night is the biggest culprit...

Anyway, BUZZ Is fun, and the Namco space has lots of free items. The new mall is cool, and makes sense.

Really? I just booted it up and it has too many split costume rooms. Why is the T-Rex head only in the one store on the second floor? I mean, I could understand the costume room having the Ninja Outfits and the like (good idea), but some of these shirts (some of which are ANIMATED now?) would've been better put in just the old threads space. :lol

Well, when they were all in one store, it took forever to load, now it takes less time.

The fight night club dj game is a nice little diversion.

Are they gonna activate the ring for robot punch fights?

I haven't been in home for a good long while. Seems it's growing quite a bit as a platform for free entertainment, and that's not so bad when it's something like the buzz space. Maybe that's where it's true worth will be afterall. When I think back to when I was a kid playing the SNES or whatever..there was nothing to do on the console except to play games you paid quite a bit of money for. That was also pretty much the case last gen too. But this gen, one thing that seems cool to me is that we're almost being flooded with free and cheap entertainment to consume in between the bigger 'paid for' games, and Home is pretty neat for that. As a kid with more time I'd have been totally enamoured with something like Home (now that there's a decent variety of diversions there). Kids these days are spoilt :p

Finally someone gets it. The service has tons of issues but it's coming along and definitely something that shouldn't be abandoned. I'm not even the apparent target audience - I don't chat with people, I don't buy clothes or costumes, I don't dance - but I still find the whole thing pretty interesting as an experiment and there are people that love that kind of stuff.

Sad that so many gaming 'professionals' look at Home, say that there's no point to it and decide that it has no value.

I dunno, dude. It still takes a while just to load the item icons up for me. Same for the world map. It seems the more they add the long it takes to see what they added.

Sony could take a lesson from Namco. As embarrassing as it is to say this I spent most of my morning in the Namco space trying to win that damn Idolmaster stuff. Which I can't even wear since I don't have a female avatar. But I got it all. We need more free stuff. Lots of thanks to Namco, my Home space was barren till I put a couple arcade machines and various other trinkets to spruce up the place. The Idolmaster machines are fucking rigged though, you can get nothing like 20 times in a row. Related, anyone know how many different shirt sets you can get from the loveseat thing?

The Buzz home space is awesome. I could sit there and play trivia all night. I just wish my character was lit up in some way so it was a little easier to find him.

This needs to be done, lit up, or an arrow.

Wollan said:
There's a light beam above your character.

Really? Not that noticeable (Unless I'm blind but I've only spent about 20 mins doing quizzes).

Some photos I took, can't see myself :lol

I've never tried the space myself, but I can very clearly see that beam of light the instant I looked at those pics.

If you're talking about the second picture with the guy over on the right with the circle of light around his feet, that's not me.

I dunno where I am :lol

Actually in those pictures I can see the beam of light. I didnt even notice it when I was playing last night. It must be a little hard to see if you arent looking for it.

Yes? Registered back when the "I love Ninjas" contest happened to try to tell you "DUDE! YOU SHOULD'VE STUCK WITH US!" :lol

It's pretty damn hard to see in the normal Home space, though. I agree. They really should've throught it out better (had it be like 1 vs 100 X-box 360 and tie the answers to the buttons on the right side of the pad). The redesign (to bring more people in) just sucks. I wanted the old gameshow set instead of this (but this is nice for letting more people in. The "virtual lines"' of Home fucking suck).

There needs to be some significant changes to the game however.

1) Questions need to be better vetted. Often times they are stupid easy ("What color is Yellow?") stupid wrong ("Which color does not naturally occur in food?" Answer: Blue. Never heard of blueberries huh) or just plain stupid ("What colour was I thinking of when I wrote this question?" Answer: Mexican).

2) There should be difficulty levels. Otherwise you can just go with the crowd and win almost every time.

3) There should be a faster timer.

They should add a voting mechanism at the end of a session to rate or report the quiz.

Yep, you are blind.

You don't even have to look at your avatar. As long as the beam is above the tile you want to select, you are there.

This. And better topic choices, or a playlist, or tournaments. And also shorter time by 1-2 seconds to prevent the mass migrations.

People complaining that you can "just follow the crowd" in the BUZZ space doesn't get the competitiveness of the game. The point is to be the FIRST one to the correct answer and not just fourth or fifth. You get Home prizes the more points you have and you only get the big points by being the fastest. Now sure once you when all the rewards (their aren't many) and/or don't care to win Home Items you can bring this point up but overall just have fun with it.

Hmm... pretty sure quickness has zero impact on the score.

BTW, why is Japanese Home so awesome?

hmmmm...pretty sure it does dude. I was with a friend. and we were both watching our scores closely from the start of the game (we started at 0, etc). Anyway we both were scoring big, and were at the EXACT same score as each other, always getting the right answer by following the crowd and were keeping exact pace with each other. But then a question came up and I had to go quickly to take care of some business while he went to the right answer. I came back, went to the right answer, and scored but he (and remember we were tied going into this question) scored HIGHER than me. That sucked as I was like number 2 but then went down so low I couldn't even see my name pop up on the scoreboard.:lol

So just an observation from someone who played the game and tried this with a friend. I do believe you are being timed. I scored lower than my friend even though we were tied going into a question, I wasn't even gone long, and we picked the same answer. Again if you don't care about Home rewards and/or already have them, then the "follow the crowd" aspect of this game can get annoying.

Just got done playing with the Buzz space.. WOW, really well done, everything from the lobby 'waiting' area to the design of the voting platforms, just really a quality and fun space to advertise the game. Timer could be a TINY bit faster but other than that it's generally perfect. Like Wollan said, go into Home and play that, it's where the future of home game spaces should be going.

timing has NOTHING to do with it. If you get it right, you get 150 points. if youre wrong, you get 0. thats it, all or nothing.

you have to be on the space before the buzzer, not before the answer reveal.

Would be nice if timing *did* have something to do with it since it would neuter the followers.

But then it would be based on random luck how far you have to run to the correct answer.

You can also totally cheat this game by searching the quizzes on the buzz website and finding out what the answers are, so even shortening the timer won't fix Internet lookups.

Got this in the mail just now (from TTP):

Pixeljunk Museum

pj_home01.jpg

pj_home02.jpg

pj_home03.jpg

Also, Shooter will be playable at Comic-Con.
Then the Home space will launch sometime between that and TGS. Clothing and accessories will also become available.
At TGS they will have a Pixeljunk booth.

that is incredible! I really expected developers to give home the finger after the initial lacklustre reception, but there's more and more stuff worth checking out coming every month.

Blueberries are clear when used in drink/food etc, normally they are coloured to look blue.

Would be nice to see something interactive in the PixelJunk space, maybe a slimline Home version of Monsters or Eden.

But it's still good to see PSN developers of all people, less money/time/resources, putting an effort into Home. The art design on the space looks awesome, but it's Q-Games, except no less than awesome.

That spaceship thingy is very neat :lol It's a shame about the download prompt. If Home was a big open world that grew as spaces were added it would be great, but I know that would totally change the cost structure for Sony. I assume the way everything's broken up into seperate segments lets them make much cheaper use of server resources.

They could implement a 'download every space' button :lol

Or they could implement the Home spaces into the PSN store, allowing you to download them all outside of Home.

But that would mean you could download everything, then not even use/go into Home, therefore making it less efficient for their servers clawing back revenue.

According to Wiki they can be blue. "Blueberries are flowering plants of the genus Vaccinium with dark-blue, -purple or black berries".

It would be nice if the Namco games when played from within Home loaded as quick as the games you can play in the bowling alley. I find there is no point when you essentially have to exit Home to play them.

Yeah. It's hard to believe that they couldn't be fully emulated.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/sonys-peter-edward-interview

Eurogamer:Speaking of how people use it, I've found that if you've got a female avatar you tend to get surrounded by big groups of male avatars, which is, you know, a bit freaky and unnerving. Are you aware of that issue? Do you have any ideas for dealing with it, or do you think it isn't a problem which needs to be solved?

Peter Edward: Yes, I am aware of it. To a certain extent it's a function of the internet generally.
They should just let you press X on a person to bring up a "block" action to appear invisible to each other for that instance. Girl appears to have gone offline, douchebag shrugs and looks for a new person to annoy. Sooner or later they'll get the hint.

After several griefings, the system could then warn the kid that he'll lose his home access if he keeps harassing girls. If that happens, and he puts up enough of a fight in court over the $5 he lost on home item purchases that are now useless, Sony can point to the user agreement he accepted (assuming they cover this).
