--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i think the quote might be on the DVD with PSM.

Someone started a thread at another forum called "the dumbest thing i've seen in PSM", he doesn't seem to be aware of the inquirer article.

he writes this:

"yea i got psm today with the dvd... i put it in and watched the "Luna" tech demo that nvidia showed at the E3 press conference with the woman and the creatures.

they said somthing about the graphics chip NVIDIA Ge Force 7800 that kinda pissed me off... " ThePS3 graphics chip will almost be indentical, only slightly less powerful" "

Anyone have PSM? Watched the DVD?

Yes, i have the DVD, and it DOES says that. I must admit, it had me scratching my head. I do not post alot, but I do keep up with what you guys have to say, and RSX info. Im guessing someone made a boo boo.
peace

So it's meant to be on the PSM DVD. Can someone who has the DVD please check it out.

The information may of cause be completely wrong but it seems there might be a legitimate source for the information.

Maybe the engineer who made the statement is clueless.

Which is what i'm thinking. I'd just like to know if the words are really on the DVD. One of you must have it.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize how off that would all seem. Unless Nvidia and Sony were just sitting on their asses for a year, I can't see how the RSX which is going to fabbed at the smaller 90nm coming out next year won't beat the 7800 already released.

What he is probably reading from PSM is in the Sept. issue page 10. No quotes from Nvidia rep. Actual paragraph from blurb in question:

There's no doubting that NVIDIA's new 7800GTX is the ultimate in PC graphics technology. The card's G70 GPU, which is more than twice as powerful as two of NVIDIA's previous top-of-the-line 6800 boards, shares a lot of similar workings with the PS3's RSX chip - only it isn't as fast. Oh, and it retails for $599.

Even if it was it wouldn't matter. The PS3 will be more then powerful enough. I'm just trying to get to the source for this story.

The talked about that at B3D but the guy definitely said it wasn't from that but from the DVD.

FFS! Someone must have the DVD.

NVIDIA's Chief Scientist, David Kirk:

For those that don't know, if you've been living under a rock for the last few months, the graphics processor in the PlayStation 3 is NVIDIA-designed and is called RSX. How does it compare next to the 7800?

"The two products share the same heritage, the same technology. But RSX is faster," said Kirk.

That's twice now.

And Cyberheater, since you were in the last thread and fully aware of the "stop posting crap" edict, you get to pay the price. See you later.
