PS3 HDD what
You may as well also believe you wont see it in north american stores till this time next yr.
Foil said:Sony should launch in North America first this Spring. They don't need to worry about 360 hurting them much in Japan or Europe. North America is where 360 will do it's damage.
A $300-400 PS3 sounds nice to me.
SKOPE said:Other than anti-PlayStation zealots, are there people out there who genuinely believe the PS3 will cost more than Xbox 360?
Sony took big losses on initial sales of the PlayStation and PS2. Microsoft took even bigger losses on the Xbox to establish itself in the industry. Sony will do the same with the PS3 in an attempt to establish Blu-ray as the DVD successor.
Not to mention the basic marketing concept of competition.
Who to believe? "SKOPE" (if that is your real name) or Ken Kuturagi who said it would be? Who do I believe?!SKOPE said:Other than anti-PlayStation zealots, are there people out there who genuinely believe the PS3 will cost more than Xbox 360?

The pack in remote's days are already numbered. It's only a "limited time" offer to begin with.Ponn01 said:3) Maybe, possibly a change in the Premium pack contents but nothing major. Something like the Remote Control and Headset taken out
Ken said similar things about the PS2 before it was released. And whaddya know? The PlayStation 2 debuted at the same price the PlayStation originally sold for, and less in Japan.raYne said:Who to believe? "SKOPE" (if that is your real name) or Ken Kuturagi who said it would be? Who do I believe?!
I question Microsoft's commitment to the Xbox 360 hard disk drive. It's expensive to manufacture, only required for one 360 game, and hardcore gamers--who tend to be the first to buy new game consoles--are the only ones who insist they need it.Ponn01 said:This is what I am fully expecting to happen after the Stringer comments.
1) A fall pre-holiday launch in America for PS3 at $399.99
2) The 360 core pack to be phased out by then and only the Premium pack
3) Maybe, possibly a change in the Premium pack contents but nothing major. Something like the Remote Control and Headset taken out
4) A 360 Premium Pack price drop to 299.99 at PS3 Launch

Tune in next time... Same GAF time, same GAF channel.
Doube D said:correction,
Ps3 to launch between 299 and 299.99, period. As for Ken saying it will be expensive, expect him to reveal the official price, stating something like, "i did say it would be expensive, just as expensive as the ps2 when we first introduced it in the market."
xbots am cry.GAF = madness. Can't wait.

Funny, I read them and wonder why all these people with the ability to see the future always hang around gaming forums?... *shrug* Use your powers for good!Chiggs said:I read stuff like this and thank God I've been blessed with a career that allows me to afford more than one gaming console.![]()
I have to go with you on that one.. I'll say $349.99-$399.99 will be the price.beermonkey@tehbias said:I'll repeat my ban offer.
If PS3 launches at $300 or less in the US, in 2006, with Blu-Ray movie playback, I'll take a lengthy ban (say 3 months).
Anybody want to make the ban bet?

Doube D said:Being able to afford something has very little to do with brand loyalty. There are people that could afford a ferrari and a lamborghini, but always chose one over the other... That is how people work. I highly doubt the price wars on GAF have to do with the fact that different people can't afford to buy more than one console if they wanted to.
Chiggs said:But Ferrari's and Lamborghini's are BOTH pretty sweet rides, so if you can afford them both... well...
Also, no offense to anyone around here, but brand loyalty, to an extent, is for suckers. The only thing any company cares about is your money, so forming some sort of emotional attachment to the company itself is wonderfully pathetic.
WTF dude? Sony invented Da Gaming! Of course they care!Chiggs said:Also, no offense to anyone around here, but brand loyalty, to an extent, is for suckers. Doube D said:Umm, thats like saying liking/being loyal to a particular musician or actor is really pathetic, cause they only care about you buying their movie/concert tickets. Its like saying, why drink gray goose when you can drink generic and get the same hit for less? Why buy a 200K car when a 15K will also get you from A to B? Blind loyalty is stupid. Loyalty to a brand that has provided you with gaming bliss for over ten years is not.
Chiggs said:Well, I did say said "to an extent".
The bottom line is that I feel it's pretty stupid to limit yourself to just one console.
Hell, if it releases next fall, they should bundle it with spiderman 3 (which i am guessing comes out next summer)BlueTsunami said:One of the comments on the article is that Sony should bundle a High Def version of Spiderman 2 with the PS3 (Blu-Ray disk). Thats not a bad idea.

now THAT would be a great idea
Yep. I'm not anti-PS, I'm surely more pro-Xbox but I'm not against PS3, and I can easily see PS3 costing more than 360. At least 50$ but probably 100$ more. This sounds pretty obvious to me, because:SKOPE said:Other than anti-PlayStation zealots, are there people out there who genuinely believe the PS3 will cost more than Xbox 360?
Almost everything you wrote also applies to the Xbox over the PlayStation 2.Spider_Jerusalem said:Yep. I'm not anti-PS, I'm surely more pro-Xbox but I'm not against PS3, and I can easily see PS3 costing more than 360. At least 50$ but probably 100$ more. This sounds pretty obvious to me, because:
1 - PS3 will cost more to manufacture, it's a fact.
2 - PS3 will come later in the Xbox 360 life cycle, so 360 will be ready for a price cut on both its SKUs
3 - Microsoft is willing to win like Sony is, and they'll be able to match every subsidizing loss Sony will put on the table. Make PS3 cost $300 and loose $200 on every console? Well, let us make 360 cost $200 and loose $200 on every console too (only an example). However, Sony is AFAIK *much more* financially trobled than MS, and they'll be much more cautious in subsidizing their hardware.
PS3 will cost more than Xbox 360, it's a no brainer. Other than PlayStation-fanboy-zealots, are there people out there who genuinely believe it won't? ;-)
SKOPE said:Almost everything you wrote also applies to the Xbox over the PlayStation 2.
Sony has a lot riding on Blu-ray. I fully expect it to take Xbox-level losses on the PS3 in an attempt to establish it as the DVD successor.
Again, not to mention the concept of competition.
