i am maybe nitpicking but i have a question i want to ask .

when you insert the game or about to get the game out. do you hear the ps4 disk spinning sound ? i hear it for like a few seconds. like when you put the game in. and the game start spinning, i can hear the start of the spinning and the end of the spinning sound.

its kinda loud. note that after that, i do not hear any weird sound spin. only when its about to be start spinning or stopping.

is everyone like that?..

Higher Resolution downscaled to lower resolution (1080p->720p) will produce what is called supersampling I believe

In essence you will get a better picture quality than standard 720p would provide

Still not as good as native 1080p obviously though but the extra resolution benefits those at a lower resolution as well

I just don't see it, at least not in America. There are far too many people without reliable internet connections. That combined with data caps are a killer for "cloud" consoles. From what I hear the UK isn't much better off in terms of ISPs.

We just moved to a house that's in a semi-rural location, but it's just a few miles away from two major suburbs. I didn't even consider the fact that internet would be an issue when we moved. Well, it turns out that since we're in the edge of the county and there's not too many homes between us and the nearest suburb, Comcast can't justify running cable out to our area. I'm currently using Sprint's LTE signal through a reseller. It's fast enough for online gaming and digital downloads (barely), but I'm stuck with a soft cap of roughly 80GB a month. People that are stuck with DSL or satellite internet have it even worse than I do.

Until the majority of Americans have reliable, uncapped broadband, I just don't see cloud consoles gaining a foothold here. Maybe the internet situation will change significantly over the next 5 - 10 years. I sure hope it does.

That's what I was thinking. Among developed nations, I seem to remember America not being all that high when it came to high-speed internet saturation. I do think digital distro will become more of the norm and this round of consoles will have an even longer lifespan than the last, but I feel - eventually - Sony/MS will come out with some new entertainment boxes (but that is so far into the future that it could be a bit different than the traditional consoles we have now). Who knows...

Love the PS4 but hate the cheap chat ear-bud included in the box. We all get echos of our own voices which makes playing together an annoying staccato experience.

Am looking to order a second DS4 and some headset with chat that works today. Has there been any kind of determination of which headsets out there right now are best for PS4 sound + chat?

That's exactly what I mean. Different people prefer differnt personal information settings.

I don't want randoms to see my name and subsequently facebook profile, but I do want them to be able to see my profile picture since that can be changed to anything.

Just give the option to chose. Why not have the ability to chose between name&profile pic, just profile pic, or just real name. I think that would solve a lot of problems people have with the real name thing, since some are ok with sharing their real name, but not their picture and some are ok with sharing their picture, but not real name. Some are ok with both being shared. So why not give the option?

Seeing as how my PSN ID is my actual name, it doesn't matter for me. Dunno if I should create a new PSN ID or not. hahahaha.

Same for me kind of, drive spins up once you activate the game but I would assume it's just to check to make sure you have a legitimate copy. As the whole of the game data has been moved to your HDD. Thus playing a game after the first time should have little disc drive activity aside from when the disc is checked initially

Thats how its supposed to be. It just seems louder i think because you are right in front of it when removing / inserting a disk.

Going back to the main screen, the game crashes and goes back to the PS4 Homescreen with a message that there was an error with BF4. Start BF4 again and it says my save was corrupt and that if I continue I'll lose my data. I thought well this is great, hopefully it at least saved the fact that I finished the first mission hopefully. The main screen is about to pop up and it crashes again.

1080p, 60 FPS, games crashing. It really does feel like I'm playing on PC.

So I just want to ask so that I'm sure I'm not missing something because I've seen several claims in this thread that the PS4 online community features are great and totally on par with the Xbox 360. This is not a baiting post at all, I'm just trying to clarify if I'm missing something. Overall I'm really enjoying my PS4 but there are some aspects that seem to be missing or just half baked.

From what I've experienced, there is currently no way on the PS4 to get notifications when a friend comes online. Is this correct?

And from what I've tried (specifically in BF4), the "party" feature is only a party chat feature, it does not actually group you together with friends for joining games together. Is this correct?

Multiplatform titles are better on PS4, and it will be so in the future;

Drive Club, Infamous, Uncharted, The Order and all future first parthies titles for Playstation 4, will broaden even more the gap!

I got both but honestly BF4 is so messed up right now I can't really judge it until it gets fixed, but if you want something now for sure go with KZ. I'm liking KZ multiplayer a lot: nice maps, gun unlocked from the beginning, no aim assist, and it looks insanely good.

PS4 is the most connected and social console we've had. I can't really tell you as much as advise you reading and looking up the cool features already there at launch on top of the games. It's your hard earned money but PS4 has already been a great experience and the top guns at Sony haven't even hit yet. That and you get a ton of good and free games plus the free cross buy stuff like Flower, flow, Escape Plan, and Sound Shapes right now. Tiny Brains next week and that's an awesome co op game.

To sum it up, the games are what will be the reason you love PS4.

I enjoy the PS3 ecosystem much better compared to 360. I'm not huge on online multiplayer games, especially shooters. I prefer single player campaign experience, which further convinces me PS4 is the way to go. I just hope I can locate one ASAP

I've heard from many people that BF is a huge buggy mess right now. If you have PS+ maybe your cloud save is OK? At any rate I'd stay away until Dice patches it up.

Same for me. Last night when I got home, I turned on the PS4 and input the DLC code that came in the box with Assassins Creed 4 (I think it was for the UPlay passport) and the Killzone Amazon pre-order bonus code that I didn't even know I had until yesterday. Both were accepted successfully, but the only thing that downloaded was the AC4 item. I meant to boot up Killzone to check if the OWL skins were there, but next thing I knew I was six missions into AC4 and it was time for beddy-byes.
