PS4 Neo presentation might have leaked

A few (possibly outdated nuggets) I feel I can share, a lot of this is known and has been discussed before...but...

-This is legit (as many others have said)
-This was always (or for a good bit) the plan for the Neo
-MS had no real/current XboxOne Slim or Scorpio plans
-A leak of a "Neo" / PS4K got out
-Internet speculated like crazy about specs and release date and reveal
-MS caught off guard
-MS makes XboxOne Slim and works hard to envision their own "big but not XboxTwo big" upgrade, spec out Scorpio
-MS reveals both at E3, anticipating Sony showing it's big guns too
-Sony doesn't. Neo was never seen as a "big gun" to Sony
-Cart got in front of horse. Sony examining if Neo should be something bigger tech-wise
-Currently (or currently-ish) still looking like "no."

I've already said all this on DLC, yes, but not sure if I said it in one place like this before. Lol
So MS made the slim in like less than a month and mass produced it just then and there? lol

Has this been confirmed as the same doc by DF or any others now that it is out in the open?

Same doc. Confirmed.

Seems like a slightly different take on the mid-cycle die shrink and case facelift to me.

People are making this out to be a far more significant piece of hardware than it is.

So I can play Bloodborne at:-

2k/60fps
4k/30fps
1080p/120fps

DAY ONE!!!

Now time to buy all these games with shitty fps and looks, oh man The Witcher 3 finally the Witcher 3 for real.

PCNEO is the future.

Oh, I see your point, sorry for not making myself clearer.

When I said Ps4 wouldn't be able to handle the same graphics in Vr I meant they they will definitely drop stuff like resolution, post processing effects and what else they can to get the same assets to work with VR, wasn't even RE 7 reported to run in lower res?

With neo they can have the VR mode looking much closer to the actual game, so a no compromise in that regard.

I think PSVR games will see similar benefits to other games when played with Neo, that's for sure. I just don't think Neo was conceived specifically for PSVR, which some people seem to think

For all the talk of Scorpio being a beast I still don't see it making any kind of difference outside of the States. Would that be enough to counter the absolute domination of the PS4 in the ROTW?

It's some people's Hail Mary pass ignoring that the rest of the world doesn't care about football. ;)

Total BS.

bull crap that my "who caught who off guard" thread got locked by E3 police. I'm still salty lol...

Is this legit though?

The FUD, hopes and dreams and delusion in this thread is a sight to behold.

As for the off quoted post above.. You are the most delusional of all buddy. Expect a PM from bish soon.

I hope this is old and Sony have upped the CPU to a more modern one. I don't want a PS4S that has a weak ass CPU like PS4. Sony should have learned that lesson from PS4 to use a better CPU and its importance. I am willing to pay $499 for Neo but with a better CPU in it. Else I'll wait for PS5.

Haha, not quite bud. It's highly unlikely, but Bloodborne could get an update. Wouldn't count on it at all, personally. I'd say yes to Witcher 3 because it is getting a GOTY edition as others have stated. CD is also the type of dev who would take advantage of new hardware.

Yeah. I'm starting to feel way too old for this place.

Yeah man, I kinda gave up a little after some weird responses I was getting. I do want to try and keep legit and sensible info afloat in this type of thread though.

So since most in this topic are implying this isnt a groundbreaking update what is the general opinion on how much this will cost?

Any chance Sony drops the price of the PS4 OG to 250 and the NEO would launch at 350?

I got a 4k tv recently and I don't want to buy a standalone UHD BD player if the ps4k is so close on the horizon, so I'm a little impatient too.

I'd just be concerned with quality. Sony's current Bluray app is lacking. $50 players perform better. Also they still don't have a good remote for it despite there being what they call "official" PS4 media remote that's some third party BS remote.

a price cut was already confirmed by House, but imo is way too early for 250
i think it will be 299$ for regular PS4 and 399$ for Neo

Regarding Christian's nuggets:

It absolutely makes sense that MS would push the HDR/4K aspects of the XLIM expecting Sony to announce NEO which would/will no doubt push 4k heavily. That way they can undercut sonys 4K offering then blow them out of the water spec wise next year. They would of looked pretty smart doing this coming out of e3 had sony announced the neo...

I find amusing the fact that people think Sony is worried about what MS does: in 90% of planet Earth, the Xbox brand is irrelevant no matter what they do....

So they're not worried what their only direct competitor in that space is doing? Huh

Re: Christian's leaks:

No, bullshit. MS isn't stupid enough to have been "caught off guard" twice in one console gen."

That and there's no fucking way they could get a Slim model ready that quick. Sounds like fanboy wish-listing.

I originally wrote something people had told me. I trusted those people, so I thought I'd share.

I'm sure you can still see what I originally wrote pretty easily. That's fine.

Edited here b/c I forgot that I shouldn't post.

I'll go back to just reading along.

But what you posted is a lie.

Microsoft didn't just up and decide to create the S, design it, test it and start mass manufacturing it in the space of 2 months.

Christ.

Be prepared to wait for PS5. They were not intending to have an upgrade to that kind of level from the start. This is much cheaper to make, manufacture, and sell quickly and cheaply while fulfilling their 4K obligations, giving them more time until a PS5 is necessary. I think 2020 is now viable

Will neo be able to achieve the uncompressed pixels that Scorpio can apparently do? We still don't know if real 4K will be possible but the uncompressed pixels is a step in the right direction.

Or because it was launching in around 3 months so why on earth WOULDN'T it be at e3 & why wouldn't they talk about two of its major features? Scorpio on the other hand...

No wonder Sony didn't show this at E3. Upgrade specs are not impressive. How is this supposed to keep people from moving to PC?

At least we know this won't be above $399 for price. Nice option for new buyers but don't think this upgrade will be worth it for existing owners.

When Scorpio rumors came out, I believe polygon mentioned that MS did get caught off guard regarding the neo being more powerful and coming out this year and quickly put together a presentation for Scorpio for e3. Also, do you think Sony is stupid enough to get caught off guard by MS then lol. They have been extremely smart this generation admit it or not.

The way you're wording this makes me think this might be a joke post, but I'll reply just in case you are serious. The phrase 'Uncompressed Pixels' is a load of buzzword marketing nonsense. You won't get uncompressed pixels on Scorpio, you don't get uncompressed pixels on the most powerful gaming PC's that exist and you'll never likely ever get uncompressed pixels for gaming in your lifetime. It's a meaningless term that's supposed to sound good as a feature.but it amounts to absolutely nothing.

ALL GAMES 60FPS

If the Scorpio has a Zen I see no reason why the vast majority of games won't be 1080/60. I doubt developers will spend a ton of time on the NEO/Scorpio. They will just do the equivalent of high/ultra of the PC version. The Scorpio will be able to do most PC games 1080/60 at high/ultra settings. There is really no excuse for many sub 60 FPS games outside the occasional first party game that the Scorpio/NEO gets a lot of extra attention.

So I can play Bloodborne at:-

2k/60fps
4k/30fps
1080p/120fps

I don't know why but it seems like a lot of people around here are confused as to what 2K actually is.

2000px-Digital_cinema_formats.svg.png

There's less difference between 2K and 1080p than there is between 1080p and 900p...

What's most likely is that you'll be able to play games like Bloodborne at 1080p, 60fps. Aaaand that's it. I really do not expect any games on the Neo with competitive visuals to actually run at native 4K, not even 4K 30fps.

So the Xbox is going to be the more powerful console?

But will it matter? I doubt a more expensive Xbox 1.5 would outsell a PS4 halfway into the cycle. How much better will it look?

This shit will not be viable for another 4 years.

Yes the Scorpio will be more powerful and I have my doubts it will matter. PS4 Neo will be the cheaper option price wise. Combined with the PS4 being significantly more popular console brand and it will be tough for MS to make a dent.

It won't outsell the PS4, but it will give their customers a better experience outside of the lack of exclusives.I have no zero interest in Scorpio, but it will be vastly superior to the Neo based this information.

So MS made the slim in like less than a month and mass produced it just then and there? lol

It can happen. Just take the xbox and shrink it down with a shrink ray and pain it white. Whats the big deal?

Its not even that small so they don't even need like, a deluxe shrink ray or something. Just the standard will do.

The idea of either company being "caught off guard" is just ludicrous fanboy nonsense. You can bet each company has a pretty good idea of what the other one is doing/planning. Especially before anything leaks to the public.

To think the Neo leak earlier this year was the first time MS had heard about Sony's upgraded PS4 is VERY hard to believe. And I'm certain Sony has known about Scorpio for a long time.

The fact that they are launching at different times with different specs is more a reflection of differences in their road maps/philosophies more so anything to do with either company being surprised by the other.

I am now convinced that Neo was going to be revealed at E3 and Sony got shook by Scorpio. If the Red Dead rumor was real it would have been revealed by now. The Days Gone gameplay to close out the show seemed so tacked on. That demo was obviously meant to transition from trailer to gameplay just like Horizon Zero Dawn did last year.

So who is the Scorpio for?

It sounds like a neat console for a PC gamer who maybe wants to play PC/MS games on console maybe? I dont understand MS's strategy.

Did they overshoot on the specs in a counter to Neo?
