PS4 Pro boxes getting prepped

Damn, all you new 4K TV owners are making it hard to wait to spring for a new set. My logic is the price on 2016 models should drop by a few hundred after the holidays. Trying my best to wait for Jan-Feb and try and pick up the 65 inch KS8000 for a grand or maybe the KS9000 for 1400.00ish.

At least I have a nice 1080p TV to hold me over. Sounds like the Pro will upscale quite nicely so I should see some visual benefit for a couple months.

Still, it's hard as heck waiting....

Any word on a patch for Ratchet & Clank?
This is pretty much all we have so far:

Thanks! All we need now is a patch for The Phantom Pain in 4K.
This is my #1 wanted game for "forward compatibility." Give me "checkerboard 4K" and HDR on that and I'm in heaven on Earth. I don't need any other upgrades to that already glorious game.

Well, okay... I'd take Act 3 too.

Is there a Dummies Guide to Upgrading to the PS4 Pro? I've been to busy with work and an infant to even read up on transferring, etc.

Yes there is (As in easy way to transfer!)! Check out the PS4 Pro FAQ has some great info.

Q: What if I already own a standard PS4? Is there an easy way to transfer my games, saved data, and Share captured content from a standard PS4 to PS4 Pro?
Yes. You will be able to copy your games, saved data, captured videos and screenshots, system settings, and other content from a standard PS4 to PS4 Pro using a standard Ethernet cable. This process will also work from standard PS4 to standard PS4, PS4 Pro to standard PS4, and PS4 Pro to PS4 Pro provided that both units have system software update 4.00 or higher installed, and the same PSN account is signed into both systems.
Alternatively, you can log-into PSN with your PS4 Pro, access your games and content library, and re-download your previously purchased games and content. Of course, your saved data in online storage will transfer as well.

Keeping my pre-order but I'd by lying if I didn't say I'm a bit surprised and concerned about the lack of announcements for Pro patches for existing games or any dates/further details for most upcoming games.

I mean it's 10 days away and we don't even know if Battlefield 1 will have a patch on launch and what it will do...

So can I take my existing 2tb HDD out of my ps4 and install it on the pro and be good to go?

Most are assuming yes i doubt sony changed the dimensions of the hdd in the ps4 pro but just putting it in the pro wont work you will need to format it and reinstall the firmware.

I feel like there basically has to be an embargo on this stuff. I'm 100% expecting a blowout where we get a bunch of news on patches for stuff like BF1, Bloodborne maybe, Ratchet and a few Indies like maybe Rocket League.

If they don't have that then it'll be very disappointing to have such limited support out of the gate

We need to know the drive bay size if we can stick with our < 10 mm 2.5 inch sata or we can go to 3.5 inch and big 4 TB ?

I sincerely hope so because I have never seen anything like this for any form of console launch or even a major peripheral. It's like "yeah maybe a few of these games will get something at some point", that was a bit annoying back when the Pro was announced but the damn thing is out in 10 days.. what the fuck?

Did you ignore about 30% of the replies in your thread that answered this with 'It'll come in launch week'?

yep, got the 65", was actually going for flat screen (KS9000 or KS8000) but neither of those were in stock so I went with the 8500 cuz it looked goddamn amazing on display XD

No difference whatsoever other than one model being curved(8500) and the other not (8000)

According to this, difference between KS7000 (UK) and KS7500 (UK) exists:

When we reviewed the curved Samsung UE55KS7500 several months ago, we noted several shortcomings including subpar HDR performance and an edge enhancement bug. We’re pleased to report that we saw no such issues on the 49in KS7000: perhaps Samsung had listened to feedback and ironed out the kinks; or the flat-panel version wasn’t affected in the first place.

Anyway, i'm not a fan of curved TV's.

Why the fuck should I believe wishful assumptions?

Cerny's attending an event in London on the 2nd-3rd regarding the Pro and the titles it supports - Nioh and Grant Turismo Sport have already been confirmed during the lead up, plus many devs keep reaffirming there will be more info on their Pro support soon, so it's a pretty sound assumption. :)

It's not just wishful thinking, and it doesn't really add anything to the discussion to repeat your point every day.

I'm posting in the hope that someone has found a tweet or blog post or something somewhere that sheds some light on all this. That serves my purpose.

What purpose does repeating your banal assumptions ad nauseum achieve for you or anyone else? Nothing.

Thank you. A specific date with specific titles with an explicit purpose regarding the Pro, that's all I wanted to know.

That's the information I was referring to. Information about that event has been around for days. I don't have any 'banal assumptions', nor did I repeat them ad nauseum.

What's up with your tone?

So... when this comes out I will have 2 Ps4's.. one in the bedroom and another in the living room.

So... how do I use the same PSN user on both PS4's..? which one should be set as primary ?

You just log in on the one same as on the other. You should primary the one you use the most :)

Don't buy a 4K tv so early - Wait for next year since the input lag with HDR is currently too high. The current implementations were likely not completely optimized for input lag.

Besides LG looks like it'll nail the next OLED TV and firmly be the best TV to get especially for fast motion (CRT excluded).

How do you figure? Nothing leaked regarding next year's model afaik?

Also, LG has gone on record stating they'll enable HDR in game mode in an upcoming update.

That said...January is just around the corner, so waiting for CES is never a bad idea...

I plan to buy a ps4 pro but I have an 1080p tv and I do not plan to get 4k tv untill next year for HDR lag mainly - and to have some $$$ - does an 1080p benefits from a ps4 pro??? Specially Battlefield 1 ?!

Going to trade in my PS4 this weekend. It served me well since launch but the drive is getting particular loud when starting up and installing games.

Out of interest do people stack their consoles on top of each other? Like having their PS3 sitting on their PS4. Would this cause the system to run hotter than normal?

I have them side by side blocking the fans with maybe a hand sized gap between them. I don't want to break my new Pro so I was thinking of stacking them instead.

Is that a good idea?

You'd think. But the amount of times I've seen identical questions asked here has been startling.

Yep. We badly need the OT/media blowout :)

Though I'm guessing we'll still see the 1080p question on, like, page 35 of the OT.

Well, it's a better idea than blocking the side fans.

And there it is.

If Polyphony really push 1080p mode then it'll blow everything out of the water for the rest of the generation (but it must include dynamics).

Please...don't just push 4K, PD.

And those TVs will be ridiculously expensive

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'm trying to figure out if it's worth upgrading from a Slim to a Pro if I lack a 4K TV. Planning on getting FFXV, but I'm not sure it's worth upgrading to a Pro since I really don't know how much the difference between the versions will be overall since we lack comparisons.

Slim to Pro wouldn't be as worth it compared to going from OG to Pro imo, unless you can find a good trade in deal for your slim and a good deal on the Pro then maybe and also 4K TV's are the only ones with HDR compatible, 1080p TV owners will have less benefits. Maybe you can wait and see all the 1080p additional visuals are enough for you
