PS4 Pro boxes getting prepped

All ready for mine next Thursday. I also got an email today from Amazon saying that the release date for Dishonoured 2 had changed from Friday 11th to Thursday 10th. HYPE.

I'm gonna be seriously jealous when dozens of random stores in the US break street dates and people are getting theirs days in advance, as seems to happen with most games these days.

There's a pre-order bonus on Steam where you get to play a day early, probably the same for other places too.

Nice pickup, shinobi.
I kinda hate myself for waiting till 2017 cause I want the best OLED panel I can get. :/

I'm fine with not having the best, but I like to take part in the major leaps. 4K and HDR seem like the big leap for the next few years. Which is the premium among those options (OLED vs LED, Dolby vs HDR10, etc) don't bother me too much. The deal people are getting on the Samsung TVs right now being on sale with employee pricing are pretty good bang for the buck if you don't have a 4k set yet.

Just ordered it Monday, so I'm not sure when it'll arrive to be exact. Hopefully before I pick up the Pro.

You will, site says "7-10 days to ship" and then "1-3 days once shipped." Which is why I was curious when you ordered.

How much brother?

I just ordered one for $1050 before tax (and before my 10% Discover Deal which basically offsets tax). We found a EPP code sharing scheme that knocks it down from $1400.

I've started hanging around TV show rooms like a bad smell during my lunch breaks. If I didn't need a new 4K receiver worth £500 to go with the sodding TV I would have impulse bought one already.

Quality and price will be so much better next year, it's definitely worth waiting. I'm doing the same.
Waiting for next years OLEDs is the right move imo. I have a feeling they will fix a bunch of this years problems.
Yeah I keep reminding myself this stuff every time I get that itch for a new TV now which is almost every other week lol. Must.hold.strong.
I'm really hoping next year's LG OLEDs are much improved in terms of latency/response time in HDR+game mode.

I would also sacrifice up to 3 gaffers if I could get GSYNC in a 65"+ OLED panel within the next 2 years.

Can't you just plug directly into TV and then do optical out to your receiver? That's how I run most my set ups.

Tell me about it. I've been dying waiting for good TVs since last year. Even had a KS8000 briefly but couldn't stand the clouding. Almost got an E6 (already had the dang thing in the shopping cart at Amazon) but held off for some HDR latency measurements and thank god, because they are not great.

Next year will be our year.

Not sure how this HDD stuff is going to work out for me. I have a 2TB in my PS4 at the moment, and I'm looking to put that into the Pro as soon it gets here next week. What's the process I need to follow here?

Normally, I would format the drive and just pop it in, but I don't have a way to do that. Does the Playstation have something similar to that, or should I be doing something else? My plan is just to download the games, so there's no issues there. It's just a matter of swapping drives and getting the proper firmware installed.

Understood, I was reading some online breakdowns and turns out all 3 HDMI ports are HDMI 2.0 Compliant, so that was my main concern, whether the non-yellow one's might be 1.4 or something.

Can you point me to where you found out what version of HDMI ports they are?
As I have a Samsung myself and its taken me nearly 5 hours to find out as for some fucked up reason, Samsung dont actually tell you anywhere. Not the manual,. not the website, no where.

So I'm going on a whim that mine are 2.0 as I have the 40 JU6000 model and its 4K UHD ready.

Looks great. Is there a comparison shot I can use to see the difference side by side?
Not between PS4 and PS4 Pro, and photomode has additional supersampling. Here's a gameplay/photomode comparison on PS4.

It was tricky getting an exact match, especially in the rain!

And explanation of PS4 Pro upgrades from the Bound thread.
Hi,

It's time to share some of the details about upcoming patch 1.02 for Bound.
I tried a couple of times to describe how our renderer works, but I believe that finally I found the best explanation ...
On PS4 PRO we are rendering edges of geometry in 4K native with multisampling antialiasing and the inner parts of polygons are upscaled from 1080P. Since our game uses mostly geometry and does not rely on texturing too much, I think we got into sweet spot and now we have nicely looking 4K at 60 Hz.
I believe thou that most of you are waiting for the information about PSVR upgrade. We are rendering twice as many pixels than on regular PS4 in VR and adding extra effects on top of that. This makes our game super sharp, literally hitting the display resolution of PSVR headset.
To not make my words empty, here are couple of images without compression, showing new filters in 4K:

Thank you for such good comments on our game!

I'm not sure where else to ask this question so I'll ask here.
Will PS4 and PS4 Pro be treated as different systems as far as accounts are concerned?
Meaning can I activate my PS4 as my main PS4 and my PS4Pro as my main PS4Pro at the same time?

I ask because I have digital games that I would like to play on both consoles possibly at the same time. (Son on PS4)

Now, I can just leave my PS4 as main and my son can play everything while I just sign on and play on the Pro......but I will only be able to remote play into the PS4 and not the Pro.

So.....can both be mains?

both can't be main's. only one PS4 can be activated as your main console

is that essentially just like using MSAA at 1080p?

It's not ideal but I might have to if I get the TV now. It will be a step down from the LCPM I am used to.
I understand that you will lose PCM.
But you get less input lag if you hook up your PS4 straight to the TV instead of a receiver.

I had the same problem as you before Optical/DTS is still great and I saved a lot of money not getting a 4K AVR.

Getting really hard to hold out for next year man...will the TVs really be that much improved?

I'm just looking for a good $1100-$1200 range set that will make Pro sing, don't need cutting edge. Also going rather small 55in at the biggest

huh? you shouldn't get any input lag when going through a receiver as long as you turn off any extra processing stuff

On sale now.

The most sought out TV right now for 4K HDR gaming.

I have this model. It's the future.

Congrats to everyone getting the KS8000. I have the JS8500 (2015) in a 55", and yeah, believe the hype. A phenomenal family of gaming TVs.

Bring on the Pro, folks.

Samsung KS8000 55" just dropped to 1200.

I am kinda jelly but just bought a Sony Bravia tv last year so I know the wife won't let me get another tv so soon. Looks like I have to settle with 1080p for a little longer =/.

I feel your pain friend. I'm in exactly the same boat as you. Like a moth I can't help being drawn to these new shiny sets.

$930 if you go to the PS4 4K TV buying thread and get an Employee code. I gave all 5 of mine out but there should be 5 new people with 25 codes now (;

There are some pretty alarming reviews when it comes to Game Mode on that TV.

Not sure where you get that from? Those were mostly old/incorrect, firmware updates have allowed HDR + Game Mode. It's not top tier, but its better than average. I think people/early adopters thought they had to chose between game mode or HDR which switched from 20ms to 100+ms and didn't know both could be enabled.

don't sell yourself short, use those powers of Persuasion, i only bought a new Bravia the start of last year, but i still managed to work the missus into me buying the 7000 (8000 US) 4k Samsung released in the UK in april.

Actually thinking about it since April this year i have bought the 4kTV, at the same time an R9 Nano for my PC, then a PSVR, now a PS4 Pro, How is she still talking to me?
