and admit that they had planned to use "DRM"?
but the fans made them change their minds?
A NeoGAF forum member by the name of famousmortimer, whose past Sony predictions have been spot on, posted on the forum, I can say, for sure, that the past weeks PR nightmare for MS has not been lost on Sony and they do have a used game solution working This past week is pushing them strongly into, Yeah, lets not use that.
No, they wont go that far. They'd say something like, 'we were undecided but ultimately the outcry from the gamer community convinced us to do what's in the interest of gamers' or whatever.
I've been lurking on this page since the weekend and watching events unfold and I have to say this is truly one of the most awesome things I have seen on the web. I had to chase down my membership just to log in and say this. Well done, guys! Win or lose this has been amazing. This website is awesome.
Unfortunately I don't use Twitter so I can't tweet but I am happy to help out in any other way. I've spread the link to this thread around a few places. Let's hope we all the get the PlayStation 4 we've been dreaming about. Sony, the ball is in your court!
They aren't mentioning the campaign but Mortimer does get a mention:

A lil love for Xbone!

Honestly, if they fail to take advantage of this opportunity that was HANDED to them on a gold platter, let alone a silver one, they honestly deserve to fail hard.
awesome new avatars everyone. Can someone make me one, too? :/ I want that blue band of hope ^^. If possible with this picture: http://www.dbzwarriors.com/pics/standardwall/Genkidama-1-4CFDI73YAE-1280x1024.jpg
All of you new members that are starting your GAF tenure in this thread are warming my heart. Really. I would hug you all if I could. Consider yourselves all hugged.
They would be the biggest assholes if they're having fun at our expense.
There would be wildfire of bad PR for Sony if they did this and then announced similar-to-the-Xbone anti-consumer systems for PS4. "Leave it up to the developers" is basically the same thing.
If Sony wants to be SMART, then they will require a PSN PLUS account for the ability to play USED games.

I wouldn't say it's the same thing, leaving it up to the developers means you can boycott specific developers.
As I said before, I don't see some of the smaller niche devs doing any of this. Bigger ones like EA probably would.
So I just wouldn't buy their games (and this my AAA purchases would go down) but I am perfectly fine with.

omg that yosp tweet
They said 'leave it up to publishers' this gen when it came down to region locking games and every other console was doing it natively. Surprisingly 99% of games are region free. There would be wildfire of bad PR for Sony if they did this and then announced similar-to-the-Xbone anti-consumer systems for PS4. Welcome back! It only takes a minute to sign up for Twitter, though. There have been plenty of people who signed up just for this campaign.

So looks like we scored Yahoo while I was in bed. Nice.
I really hope this is how it ends up being but I'm a little pessimistic with regards to publisher greed.
I would think this would be the case. For example Activision doesn't even have online passes so I doubt they'd try to work out some sort of a system for blocking used games. EA might, sure, but then they have to go and try to get the shops to carry their games. Basically the power to negotiate is diminished as the publishers would all be fighting their own battles as opposed to getting the platform holder to do that for them.I really hope this is how it ends up being but I'm a little pessimistic with regards to publisher greed.
Haha maybe go ask in the Sony E3 conference thread. Those guys there are pretty talented.Your avatar makes me want to do the entire intro to Replacement Killers with Kaz replacing Chow Yun Fat. (but I have no skills)
Me too.
Was chatting to a third party publisher that we deal with at the bank this morning for other business stuff, but I managed to get a bit of time in to ask about what they thought about the campaign, the contact acknowledged its existence. Said he was surprised that the campaign is against Sony because as far as he knew they weren't going to have used game DRM for PS4.
Maybe they were never going to have used game blocking and are just egging this campaign on to reap the good PR that will come from "listening" to the fans!
Yeah, yosp and shahid having fun with it would be suicide now if they had bad news.
Okay. I'm actually pretty anti-Twitter but here goes. All for a good cause right? I'm signing up now...
Added all these. Please let me know if I missed anything or spelled a site's name incorrectly. I'm a dumb American who only speaks English!

Can I get an avatar upgrade with both ribbons? Thanks in advance if anyone makes the effort.
I honestly feel them leaving it up to publishers would be the ultimate cop out from Sony. They have nothing to lose by going DRM free , not one single publisher would pull games from their system , so explain to me why we should give them a free pass to just shrug and give it " not my fault".
Boycotting publishers using it is not the answer when Sony have the power to not put owners of their system in the position of having to choose between missing out on potential big games or putting up with shitty DRM.
