Wait is the lack of quick resume confirmed? That is imo the absolute best part of this gen from a usability improvement point of view.

Really comes down to how much you value Sony's first party games and your PS profile/friends list/trophies list.
If you value that stuff a lot, probably better to stick with PS5 as some of the things you listed could be added to PS5 in a systems update.
If you care more about feature set and you don't really care about Sony first party games and your profile on PSN, then grab an SeX, pay for 3 years of gold (assuming you do MP), and do the Game Pass Ultimate $1 upgrade.
You'll get GPU for 3 years. And GPU includes EA Access too starting on launch day so you got all their Xbox games that are about 1 year old and older. Even SW Fallen Jedi is being added soon.

People need to stop using FreeSync for a feature concern when VRR is standard for HDMI 2.1. Which is fine for TVs that support it

I doubt for many that is "all" they want to do. But launch window lineups are usually pretty thin, many are still playing current games but would like to sell off the old console since there's BC on the new ones etc. So it's definitely a nice perk, and many were looking forward to also getting faster load times in those BC games etc.
Yep. I'll get both since I don't plan to upgrade my PC where I played Xbox/Gamepass stuff this gen, but I'm more invested in Playstation at this point. There first party games make up a lot of my favorites the past couple of generations and the few real life friends I game with are all on Playstation and sticking with the PS5. I do tend to prefer the Xbox experience in terms of OS, controller (Dualsense may change that, haven't used it yet) so I may end up playing more single player multiplats there if they run better than on PS5. I don' care about trophy/achievement score so that doesn't factor into where I play.

Who bought drives without knowing if they're approved? I mean, you can just return the drive, can't you? It's not like prepaying for say, Netflix for 2-3 years and having no new movies to watch. Netflix wouldn't do that, but maybe a different subscription service with no new content. If that even exists. I doubt it exists, but it may. That would be an oversight.

Because anyone with any sense knew already that PS5 games could only be stored on the expansion drive or internal. PS4 games internal. Wait till you find out it's the same for Xbox Series only games.

Nobody expected that you could run those games on an external SSD/HDD, but being able to store them was kind of expected. It will save you some time downloading if you can back up your games on a cheap USB SSD or HDD.

Xbox Series X games can be stored on external drives.
If you want to play them at Series X speed and perks, you have to have it in the internal SSD or that Seagate card. But in terms of storing it, all old gen and next gen games can be stored on an external HDD.
But you cannot store PS5 games on an external HDD. Nobody knew till now just simply storing PS5 games had to be on SSD.

Console gamers dont usually need 1440p, yeah it would be nice but most play on TV and those are 1080p or 4k. 1440p is niche and even pc gamers still play on 1080p screens and higher are rarer
Quick resume vs loading games in similar time from zero, not a big deal. And 1 game in quick resume is enough for many
BC = maybe they fix it later, still not a big deal as difference is small
Same with resume, it is not slow by any means and probably gets faster later
Freesync = same as 1440p, good to have but many console gamers dont have it, and if they say officially that it never comes then it is sure. As feature it is not ground breaking for consoles, stable 30/60hz is as good as variable + Sync (on consoles)
Stop trying to turn tiny annoyences into big problems and it is easier

it is basically confirmed. there is no mention of it by anyone and nothing on the dashboard points towards it being there either.
Sony is counting on developers using their card system for quickly starting up certain activities, which is not really comparable but also has its benefits over quick resume. both features are very different in nature tho. Quick Resume lets you quickly jump back in where you left off, and the cards system lets you quickly start a certain level or jump into a Multiplayer mode or something like that, which many games will not really be able to use... say Assassins Creed for example, that game has no "levels" or specific modes you could quickly jump to.

Same reason they were very quiet on a lot of other features. People figured they were just waiting to drop all the "good news" at once, but it's been obvious to unbiased observers that theyve been quiet because they just dont have these features.
Clearly their plan was to try and launch the console without touching on these things and deal with the potential backlash later.
It's pretty pathetic that they're not allowing people to park games on an HDD. No excuse for that.

Why didn't they mention it? Because it's a negative. They wouldn't mention it because it hurts them. Sony haven't been super secretive about the ps5 because they wanted to drop surprise good news bombs on release like people have been trying to say lol. They've been secretive because they don't want to release bad news, so they just say nothing and let their shills spread rumours of secret sauce.
NXGamer and Digital Foundry especially were the causes of a lot of this secret sauce ps5 bullshit.

Doesn't help when they had people like NXGamer telling people that there were "huge surprises" he couldn't wait to talk about in regards to the PS5. That "huge surprise" was that BC works lol.
I dislike it but Sony know that they can just say nothing and their vocal fanboys will do all the work for them, from making secret sauce stuff up to slandering the competition with outright lies. They threw a flash name like Tempest Audio out there and told their team that it's revolutionary, and people even on this "enthusiast forum" ate it up and shouted from the rooftops that the ps5 is the only console that can do 3D audio ffs. They're working their crowd up to do free marketing and defence for them, and it works a treat unfortunately.

What the fuck is Sony thinking and doing at this point, I though this was going to be on of the solid advantages Sony would have over Series X when it came to SSD space as Sony would be able to transfer games at a much faster speed than Series X from external to internal thus making the internal capacity of 625GB not a big issue now it certainly does become a issue that Sony gamers will have to cope with.

USB drives can store more than the cloud. Cloud requires PS+ subscription. USB allows you to edit saves and use cheats.
