It's still cool to have the PS2 sounds back, but yeah Sony kinda missed the point.
Ideally a choice to mix & match all boot ups with the themes would be nice, I know everyone loves PSX>PS3 boots ups.
Don't think anyone cares about the PS4's
I get that one everytime I do a factory reset on my TV

So can we finally download our own desired themes? Its crazy that we have gone worse and worse in terms of Ui customization after every console. The ps3 UI was so sexy and you could also download custom themes from third party sites.

You boys are talking about the themes but what about the new auto focus sound options ?
Man, this new option is beautiful and super useful for headphones users since it boosts the max volume !
Especially neat with games where the max audio output isn't that high like SH2 Remake/Alan Wake 2 etc...

Did some tests and for me, the best setting is the "boost quiet sounds" option with the adjustment level set to "medium".

This thing is basically a welcomed free max audio level boost like the DA for headphones was for the XSX.

Game changer. I felt like the last audio update did more harm than good because it felt complicated for no reason. This however, damn.

Menus were never an issue with Sony products, hell a Walkman from 2010 has a better operating system than today's products, Sonys issue is their shooters (socom, mgo, resistance, Warhawk, Killzone, uncharted) magically disappeared.

Then realize that the Xross Media Bar is 22 years old and debuted with the PSX (the actual PSX, not what people call the OG PS). Best console GIU ever. All they had to do was improve it, replacing it for the sake of doing something new was a terrible decision.

Dont care about themes (and why no boot up screens FFS Sony) but the audio update is nice!

Boost Highs gives it a weird tinny sound, I dont like too much bass as it blasts your ears off - boost quiet noises is nice but not settled on weak or medium just yet.

Sadly still doesnt sort out the shitty muffling with 3d audio on some games but does make my Pulse 3D sound really good with the new EQs chatGpt helped me sort out - it did seem to cause some distortion on my X2HRs though.
