PS5 Pro discounted in UK (Curry's, Argos and EE)

Mr Reasonable

Completely Unreasonable

UK Retailer, Argos, have cut the PS5 Pro price from £699 to £659 within a week of launch. I assume they must be drowning in them and that the appetite for Sony's latest console isn't there currently.

Crazy timing - a week after launch and on the run up to the Christmas period - you'd expect these would be flying off the shelves, not being discounted.

Is this a stealth official price cut? It'll be interesting to see if other retailers cut to the same price across the board.

I don't know if in UK is different, but in Brazil many stores are already selling stuff with discounts because of black friday...

I don't know anyone in my circle who has bought one. And some of them buy a lot of useless gaming stuff. Anecdotal, I know.

A whole £50 is hardly anything imo. And I wouldn't even count this since it's just one region.

It's quite a big deal - the console is a week old. Fairly unprecedented, AFAIK.

Famously retailers make practically nothing on console sales, so I'm wondering if the discount comes from Sony, not the retailer.

Absolutely, you don't see a retailer just shave £40 off the MSRP of a console for no reason.

They put alot of products on sale. Not specific to the pro.

Dude, the pro launched 6 days ago. This never happens in the UK.

A 50£ price decrease promoted by a retailer during Black Friday / Christmas? Omg this is shocking /s.

The console just sold 10k on Spain alone during its first few days lmao.

I'm sure its doing fine.

It's a high end console. It is also not a replacement for the base model. People will just get the base model unless they have the extra income to go for the Pro.

What are you talking about site wide? site wide in the UK would mean every gaming product has this discount. Is that the case?
You have an abnormal/unhealthy level of interest in seeing the Pro fail, where you even ignore the reality of the situation. It's a Pro console which exists alongside the base model. It doesn't need to be flying off the shelves (would Sony love that? of-course, but that isn't the point here).

someone previously posted about Very.co.uk, they offer 20% off new purchases if you sign up with them and take out credit (just pay it off in full) and that's a 140 quid saving right away.. been mulling it for a few days trying to talk myself out of it lol

I kind of find it amusing that US Black Friday retailer push spread to the rest of the world so we are having BF sales in UK and Brazil.

Capitalism!!! 😂

"sales" it's just a way for retailers to get rid of lingering stock and the stupid masses lap it up, i remember watching clips of fucking mongoloids rushing to get a 100 quid Shamshing telly thinking they were getting a bargain, thankfully we didn't go fully like those absolute fucking spongebobs in the states and fighting over the dregs.. that was hard to watch

I abused that offer 3 times before so I'm getting the wife to do it this time lol

No, I want a PS5 Pro and I thought the price and lack of disk drive/stand was an insult to their loyal customers so I would like to see it fail at their MSRP price as I feel Sony needs a little humble pie, especially in the UK, Europe, AUS and Canada. Seeing it potentially have to be cutting the price due to lack of sales early would instil my faith in humanity a little and hopefully allow me to buy one sooner rather than later. :D

Win, Win!

They say assumptions make an ass out of you and me, but I think this one might just be you.

No, it's nothing of the sort. This is a single retailer having a broad sale that happens to include PS5 Pro.

I think xbox dodged a bullet here.

Their X/S idea is genius will be copied next by other console manufacturers.

Switch 2 needs to be 2 consoles instead of cramming everything in a handheld. Win win for those who want fidelity.

Yeah, don't forget in the UK there is no Thanksgiving and so Black Friday is basically a random day in November. £50 off a £700 item is not a big discount either.
