Makes sense.Wait, they are releasing disc versions of the game now??
Yes, we’ve known that PS5 uses 100gb discs (triple layered) I thought that it was the same with Xbox. But apparently, they are still using the 50gb discs.PS5 can use 100gb discs (BD100), this has been know for ages.
Guess the news is XBox cant
What would an all digital console have to do with it?that might have something to do with the Series S?
Even the Xbox One S can play UHD Blu-ray. Xbox has had that capability since 2016.PS5 games come in 100Gb UHD Bluray, and it is also a reader that plays movies better than the XBX.
File size requirements? Minimising disparity? Dunno, which is why I used a question mark. But it seems self-imposed.What would an all digital console have to do with it?
No, I believe Zathalus is correct.File size requirements? Minimising disparity? Dunno, which is why I used a question mark. But it seems self-imposed.
Wish they would do this for Alan Wake 2.Makes sense.
Sell digital first to maximize sales, reduce costs (packaging and disc printing), reduce carrying inventory costs (cases and cases of discs).
When sales slow down, then get the rest of the sales from disc buyers.
And then apply an update on top of it.50GB disc limitation has been known for quite a while. Something to do with using the same disc between the One and Series generation. Not like it really matters as you have to install everything anyway.
How Sway? The Series X can read films on BD-100 discs, but games are only distributed on BD-50 discs. My guess is it is a self-imposed stipulation by Microsoft, that might have something to do with the Series S?
What's that go to do with it though? PS5 can still read PS4 discs (BD50)It's just that now games specific for PS5 can use BD100No, I believe Zathalus is correct.
It's so they could ship a single disc that's playable across Xbox One-Xbox Series.
Looks like they want me to buy the game at full price after all.Wait, they are releasing disc versions of the game now??
I am guessing it has to do with how MS handled cross gen games initially. Games could work for Xbox One or Xbox Series, however only Xbone data was in disk and XS was for download. What's that go to do with it though? We need to remind everyone how inferior Xbox is weekly.
Seems like a rather huge oversight on their part especially as it can read BD100 just not for gamesI am guessing it has to do with how MS handled cross gen games initially. Games could work for Xbox One or Xbox Series, however only Xbone data was in disk and XS was for download.
So since Xbone couldn’t handle 100BD disks for gaming (compatibility with OG Xbox One), they kept the same format for Series. And never switched to BD100 once current gen only disks were launched.
I don’t think they care since they are going for adorably digital future.Seems like a rather huge oversight on their part especially as it can read BD100 just not for games
Surely this is just a quick update to solve the problem?
There he is.50GB disc limitation has been known for quite a while. Something to do with using the same disc between the One and Series generation. Not like it really matters as you have to install everything anyway.
Pretty much. You use the discs to install a game and then you're done. Oh no the horror! I swear people are just looking for excuses to shit on xbox on a daily basis. I only buy digital so it affects me even less.Well, why does that matter at all?
You can't play directly from the disc. You always have to install (btw download because of any big patch that came out since the disc was produced).
Also, I'm not sure if that is really a limitation or just cheaper to produce.
It matters to the publishers & game devs who has to fit their games on a disc or 3Well, why does that matter at all?

It's been a rough week for Sony. Let them have the win.We need to remind everyone how inferior Xbox is weekly.
