PS5's wings may be interchangeable.

Interesting. There is a picture that has surfaced that suggests that PS5's white "wings" may be easily loosed and switched out, kind of like the 360's faceplates. Does this make you feel any better about the design if you weren't so keen on it's look originally? Personally I hope this is cool. I need Red Wings.

This has been discussed a while, but I think they're just made that way to save on screws in manufacturing. I think the original PS3 was built similarly.

Really? My bad, was it in another thread or something? Cuz I didn't see it. And the PS3 was built to be interchangable? I have my PS3 still...do you mean the slim maybe?

Can't we have it FLAT? Im not joking, was going to buy it (as always), but I need it to be flat, like the ps4 (i put the monitor on top). Ps3's shape was a disaster for me

Don't we all, brother.

I believe that the plate is made that way, in order to have "easy" access to the m.2 bay. The m.2 expansion slot could be on the top, instead of the back.

Still wanna know who was responsible for the design. I wonder if it's the same guy who was responsible for the PS4's external design.

This could be a genius move from a business standpoint. They could sell an insane amount of designs, another way to make revenue.

What purpose do the wings serve? I'm wondering if we could go wingless or with a black low profile one.

if your PS5 becomes defective ... the wings spread and it flys to factory in Japan for free repairs...

save on postage..

I don't see where is the weirdness in my comment 🤣.
The ps4 is a rectangle, lays horizontal. You can put things on top. And since my space is really limited, that's the only way I can have a console.

I even have to take into account the size. The ps4 fits okay, but doesn't give much room. So if the ps5 is quite larger, im afraid it won't fit. But the problem of the roundness comes first

Never stack electronics on top of each other.
Not a good idea
I would never do this!

From the Safety Guide packed in with your system

"Do not stand on or put objects on the system, and do not
stack the system with other devices."

Well, if I follow the safery guide, i would have to return the console, as it's the only way to have one. I've had a ps3 and a ps4 from preorder, and still no problems. That's almost 15 years of no issues 🤷‍♂️

It would be cool, but I feel like it'll still be better to get actual limited edition custom jobs where the other parts go different colors as well. Getting the middle part done in white looks sweet with the black popped collar.

Having had experience and previously working in manufacturing for a number of years, they do not look interchangeable, the design to snap them on and off would be much more consumer friendly. They would most likely be some sort of push button style tabs you could click in and out to get off most likely in all 4 corners.
