PS6, Xbox 5 need to come out

Generations matter, Nintendo keeps coming late, jobs are being lost due to ship shortage, Sony turned consoles into a phone industry, gaming isn't a typical hobby, the switch 2 isn't a typical console and if I'm Sony or Microsoft I don't wait to launch new consoles, in fact I tease the ps6 tomorrow and launch it for GTA6.

Diminishing returns now mean longer generations.

Look at Switch, over 8 years between launches.

There's no need to release PS6/XB5 until at least 2028, we've not even reached the potential of PS5/XBS yet.

if a ps6 got announced / released today, I would skip it. PS5 Pro was the first ps console/iteration that I have skipped since 1994.

PS is dead to me as a platform as it stands. Fuck live service.

What's the point? No one has even come close to using all the power of the PS5 let alone PS5 Pro to make a truly unique and innovative game. Why would you want to spend a thousand dollaridoos for another brand new paperweight? To play The Last of Us Remake Remaster Edition: Part 2 and gawk at Ellie's nostril hair in 12K?

(Looks at calendar)

They just celebrated their 4th bday a couple months ago.
We're probably just barely over halfway into the gen

They dont need to react to nintendo for the same reason Nintendo doesnt react to them.

AAA games dev cycles are around 5 years or more nowadays. I'm not convinced announcing a PS6 before the big games made for this gen are released is the best idea

I would be just fine if this generation lasted for another 5 years.
I would be fine if this generation ended today. And I bought a PS5 Pro a month ago.

Games has had low dynamic resolution and downgraded visuals just to reach 60fps in performance modes for years.

Sony has no reason to worry right now. One would have to be delusional at this point to think Sony and Nintendo's output impact each other much, the people who want the former, the latter, or both will get what they want, the former, the latter, or both. One's success has never had any real positive or negative impact on the other's success.

The only competitor Sony had to worry about throughout the gens was Xbox, and, well:

Series S hasn't even shown it's true potential. Even the Wukong team are taking their time trying to find ways to harness the Series S power.

I say Series S will take us up to 2030, then a Series S Pro in 2032.

For what?

In case you missed, Sony showed a PS4 game for tech show the PS5pro.
yep. we need more games. not more consoles.

the first party studios at sony and microsoft are in complete disarray. they need to fix that instead of turning to another hardware.

Need to invest in talented developers. This current batch has been arguably the worst batch of world wide developers that has ever developed.

I disagree, those console need to stay on the market LONGER and get down to $199.

Graphics are well beyond good enough. just play games and let the industry grow.

how about making some games for PS5 first? this has been the worst generation yet. throwing more powerful hardware at it isn't going to do anything.

we're 4+ years into this generation and it's been shit. i'd sell my PS5 if it wasn't for GTA VI which probably isn't coming until 2026 now lmao

Sony can't even get enough games out the door. Never mind a new console.

Microsoft meh, Series S and X might as well be OEL products and games will still be built around PS5.

That and we're need a bigger jump in nodes for new hardware to be worth it. Which will be a long while yet.

How about we let current gen build up a decent library and prove devs can use the power they already have before jumping to another level of hardware.

Even if they did launch these consoles, they would either be a marginal jump over the generation before or else be so expensive that they would fail to achieve the mass adoption necessary to get exclusive software, defeating the whole point. Cross-gen releases have been bad enough. Do wr really want new games stretching across three generations?

If all you want is better performing current gen games, and you have the money for two next gen consoles burning a hole in your pocket, a PC with a controller can make that dream come true.

Absolutely no. There are barely any games that harness the power of these consoles. We need better developers developing better software before talking about any new hardware.

Less consoles, more games.

Hell, if games were properly optimized you could keep your current console for another 10 years no problem.

If you're only wanting exclusives..sure.

For everyone else? We've been eating good.

I agree, kinda.

There's a ton of games to play coming out, but I have to agree with Makoto-Yuki Makoto-Yuki in that the first-party output has been shit in all fronts.

So yeah, not a bad gen at all I guess, but mostly because it's been saved by third-parties.

i'm still playing PS2 games. i have a PC for graphics and performance. there's a reason I've kept my PS2 all these years. gameplay/exclusivity.
My man, same. Just bought a Sega Saturn at the end of the year. Think it has more exclusives than the PS5.

Come out? As what? Don't tell me shits got so woke the consoles are claiming pronouns.

Could be the end times if true.
