PSA: iOS7 users hating the slower animations. 7.0.3 allows you to disable them.

Make sure you update to 7.0.3 first.

Settings -> General ->Accessibility -> Reduce Motion -> On

Instead of the slow fancy animations, its just a quick fade-in. way more snappy imo, and its excellent for people with older hardware.

Quick vine showing how it looks.

That just disables the parallax effect of the icons and background. I still get the animations when opening stuff.

Mine update and had the fade in already. I did the whole 'reduce motion' thing so I thought the fade ins were standard

it is a lot better though. A lot.

Not after the 7.0.3 update.

Derp de derp. If I paid attention to the title I would have realized that. Double dumb ass on me for not noticing that. Thanks. I have had the reduce motion stuff off since launch, but don't know if I am on 7.0.3 or not. Shall double check now.

The improved Touch ID to desktop unlock is also noteworthy.

The animation for multitasking still exists but the latency between double click and animation start is back to iOS 6 speeds. The fading effect also feels a bit snappier as well. I hope Apple gives us some more ways to decrease the GUI complexity for those of us on older devices.

It only took them 7 full iOS revisions to finally make a firmware that IMPROVES performance over the prior one.

I don't even see much of a parallax effect except for my wallpaper moving which is annoying when it lags and realizes it needs to get to a different place. It kind of just snaps there.

Yep yep. It's a marked improvement over how well it worked before the update.

Combined with the removal of the animations and the whole experience feels a lot snappier.

I appreciate the heads up, but I'm still waiting until 7.1 until I upgrade.

Err .. actually 7.1.1 ... when they fix all the fuck ups from that release.

The fades don't really feel all that snappy to me, but I'm never turning reduce motion off as long as it's the only way to disable parallax. That load of bollocks can bollocks right off.

Fades seem to take same time to me. But, like you, I am keeping motion off just to stop the parallax effect.

So glad I can disable it now, I will never turn it back on. Really makes me wonder why Ive hates skeumorphic design, and on the other hand introduces these dumb little effects that reduce usability and don't even look good.

Pretty surprised Apple reacted that quickly, though. Usually they tend to just stick to exactly one specific way of doing things.

A darker theme would be brilliant as well, but I don't think that will ever come. So much white everywhere.

Great change but not for me.

Love the movement on my 5S.

The fade kinda makes it feel slow though. Should be quicker in my opinion. Why have any animation at all?

Wow, this did make my iPad 3 work nearly as fast as it did on iOS6. The keyboard lag is all but gone completely. I did think it was pretty cool having all of the effects but it really makes no sense if it makes everything hitch (works fine on my iPhone 5).

Does this help with third gen iPads? I've avoided updating largely due to reports of terrible performance with iOS7.

I'd rather have the animation than the parallax, losing the animation for this fade is lame.
